Max Verstappen remains the defending champion and is hunting for this third Drivers’ Championship title since winning his first title in 2021. Red Bull looks sharper than ever and is prepared to hold off rivals Ferrari and Mercedes.

The first few car launches are scheduled in February. The opening race in Bahrain drops the flag in early March. With a busy calendar this year, Nitrobetting gets you up to speed on the F1 2023 season key dates.

Pre-season testing

This is the part where everyone starts to warm up to the season. Getting the season underway is not without pre-season testing. This year, there will only be one three-day test taking place in Bahrain a week ahead of the opening race. This window provides an opportunity for teams to troubleshoot several areas of the new cars and extract every ounce of performance from the machines. Last year, testing was divided over two events, but now that the teams enter their second year with the latest regulations and new F1 cars, pre-season track time is shortened. This is also an opportunity to see the disparity between the teams. Pre-season testing starts on February 23 and ends on the 25th.

2023 F1 season calendar

The record-breaking calendar features 23 races. Although the list was slated to have 24 events, the fourth round of the season supposedly held in China was canceled towards the end of 2022 due to COVID-19-related restrictions. Not having the Chinese GP means a lengthy four-week gap in April before the five races in six weekends, featuring Baku, Miami, Imola, Monaco, and Barcelona.

The most anticipated event in the season’s schedule this year is the Las Vegas Grand Prix. It’s a street circuit race that promises intense wheel-to-wheel action happening down the famous Las Vegas strip and passing the city’s iconic landmarks. Meanwhile, Qatar returns to the picture after taking a year off the schedule due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
