2022 PGA Fortinet Championship Recap

Max Homa scored his second straight Fortinet Championship trophy after holding off Maverick McNealy by a stroke, -19 to -18. Homa shot a 67 Round 1 and 65's in both the third and fourth rounds.

Mito Pereira finished third after clocking a -16. Two players wrote -15 on their scoresheet, Talor Gooch and Marc Leishman. Five players finished at -13: John Augenstein, Hideki Matsuyama, C.T. Pan, Patrick Rodgers, and Scott Stallings.

2023 Fortinet Championship Top Pick

Justin Thomas had a terrible 2023. Thomas missed the cut in 5 of his last 8 tournaments played. But although Thomas didn’t strike the ball well overall last season, he did end the PGA Tour season on a positive note.

JT finished twelfth after shooting a 65, 66, and 68 in the final three rounds at the Wyndham Championship. The performance is a sign Thomas is ready to start off this season playing his best. At the odds, Justin Thomas is a great top pick to win the Fortinet Championship.

2023 Fortinet Championship Second Pick

Max Homa didn’t just start last season, winning the Fortinet Championship. He also ended the season playing excellent golf.

Max finished sixth at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, fifth at the BMW Championship, and ninth at the TOUR Championship. Homa pocketed close to $1 million for his ninth in the final playoff tournament, the TOUR Championship.

So for sure, Homa deserves a look to make it three straight Fortinet titles. But the odds make Max Homa less than playable. So we’re picking Max second instead of first.

2023 Fortinet Championship Third Pick

Last season, Cam Davis didn’t play well early. He missed the cut in 6 of his first tournaments played, including missing the cut in this.

But towards the end of the season, Davis really picked it up. He rocked it at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, finishing sixth and pocketing $584,286.

Although Davis didn’t play well enough at the BMW Championship to qualify for the TOUR Championship, he heads into this in decent enough form to be in position to score the victory.

Give Davis a chance, and if you think he’s a better play than JT and don’t like Homa’s odds, go for it.

2023 Fortinet Championship Underdog Pick

Last year, J.J. Spaun finished fifty-ninth in this. The top underdog choice should for sure shoot a better score at the 2023 Fortinet Championship than he did the -2 at the 2022 tournament.

Things started out well for Spaun at last season’s Fortinet. He shot a 66, but then everything fell apart. Spaun shot 73, 73, and 74 in the final three rounds.

This year, if J.J. can keep the excellent form throughout the tournament for all three rounds, he will be right there at the end. Give Spaun a better of winning the Fortinet Championship than the odds indicate.
