2023 French Open Third Round Betting Preview

By Hank Blaine

The 2023 French Open at Roland-Garros rolls along on Friday when remaining tennis players throw down in the tournament’s Round 3. Andrey Rublev is a favorite against Lorenzo Sonego and Cameron Norrie is an underdog versus Lorenzo Musetti in a couple of ATP matches. Over in the WTA, Elina Svitolina is a favorite against Anna Blinkova and Sloane Stephens is the chalk versus Yulia Putintseva. Check out tennis odds, analysis, and free picks for six of this Friday’s French Open third round matches.

2023 French Open Third Round Matchups

ATP – French Open

Lorenzo Sonego vs. Andrey Rublev

Lorenzo Sonego has played well so far at Roland-Garros. Sonego beat 30-seed Ben Shelton in 4 sets in his first match. Then in his Round 2 match, Sonego bested Ugo Humbert after 3 sets and a tiebreaker.

Favorite Andrey Rublev beat Laszlo Djere and Corentin Moutet in 4 sets in his first two French Open matches. Rublev is 25-11 in singles matches this season. The chalk prevails.

2023 French Open Pick: Andrey Rublev -323

Lorenzo Musetti vs. Cameron Norrie

There’s a reason unseeded Lorenzo Musetti is the favorite over Cameron Norrie. In 2 matches this tournament, Musetti has won in straight sets.

Musetti beat Mikael Ymer 7-5, 6-2, 6-4. Then in his second round match, Musetti bested Alexander Shevchenko 6-1, 6-1, 6-2.

It took five sets for Cameron Norrie to beat Benoit Paire in his first Roland-Garros contest. But in his second, Norrie bested Lucas Pouille in straight sets. This match should be close. So backing the player offering the better payout makes sense.

2023 French Open Pick: Cameron Norrie +139

Karen Khachanov vs. Thanasi Kokkinakis

In his first French Open match, underdog Thanasi Kokkinakis made quick work of Daniel Evans, beating his rival in 3 sets. But in his Round 2 match, Kokkinakis required 5 sets and a tiebreaker to get by Stan Wawrinka.

Karen Khachanov took 5 sets to win his first match. Khachanov bounced back in the second round with a straight sets victory. The favorite appears to be getting stronger. Back the chalk to cash.

2023 French Open Pick: Karen Khachanov -278

WTA – French Open

Anna Blinkova vs. Elina Svitolina

Svitolina can win this for sure, but the odds make the chalk unplayable. The -208 favorite hasn’t played much better than underdog Anna Blinkova.

The +175 choice easily won her first round match. Then in Round 2, Blinkova knocked out 5- seed Caroline Garcia after losing the first set. The dog is the play.

2023 French Open Pick: Anna Blinkova +175

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova vs. Anastasia Potapova

Underdog Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has played great tennis so far. However, her Roland-Garros run should end on Friday.

Anastasia Potapova beat Taylor Townsend in straight sets. Then in her second round match, the favorite in this rallied to the best Mayar Sherif after dropping the first set. Potapova is the pick.

2023 French Open Pick: Anastasia Potapova -159

Sloane Stephens vs. Yulia Putintseva

The chalk is the play. Putintseva can win this, but Stephens is playing too well not to back. Sloane beat Karolina Pliskova 6-0, 6-4. Then in her next match, she dusted Varvara Gracheva 6-2, 6-1. The odds are fair on Stephens to move to the fourth round.

2023 French Open Pick: Sloane Stephens -182
