2022 F1 Miami GP Recap

Max Verstappen beat Charles Leclerc by 3.786 seconds to win last year’s Miami GP. Leclerc’s teammate, Carlos Sainz, finished third.

Sergio Perez finished fourth followed by Mercedes drivers George Hamilton in fifth and Lewis Hamilton in sixth. Alfa-Romeo Ferrari driver Valtteri Bottas finished seventh.

2023 Miami Grand Prix Picks

Top Pick to Win the 2023 Miami Grand Prix

After four races, it’s clear that Sergio Perez is good enough to win this year’s F1 Drivers Championship. Perez has won 2-of-4.

Sergio won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Then he won last week in Azerbaijan. Also, at the Bahrain Grand Prix, Perez finished second behind Verstappen.

The fifth at the Australian Grand Prix feels more like an anomaly than what the norm will be this F1 Season. Sergio is throwing down against his teammate and winning. Perez can make it two straight.

Second Pick to Win the 2023 Miami Grand Prix

The pattern so far this F1 Season suggests Max Verstappen pops the bottle of Champagne. Verstappen won the Bahrain Grand Prix. Then he won the Australian Grand Prix.

In the two races Max didn’t win, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, he finished second. If you don’t mind the odds, Verstappen is the play.

We’d be all over him if the line was better than -250. But at the current odds, it’s difficult to pick Max ahead of Sergio knowing that Verstappen, at least so far, isn’t dominating like he did in 2022.

Third Pick to Win the 2023 Miami Grand Prix

Leclerc had struggled up until last week when he finished a decent third. Ferrari’s top driver had to retire in Bahrain.

Leclerc finished seventh at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Charles followed up the seventh place finish in Saudi Arabia with a last place finish in Australia.

Last week, though, Leclerc and his crew were on point. In this last year, Charles finished second behind Verstappen. So if you’re looking to beat the Red Bull drivers, Leclerc is the best choice.

Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2023 Miami Grand Prix

2023 was supposed to be George Russell’s year. So far, it hasn’t turned out that way. Russell finished seventh in Bahrain and fourth at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

But then, the wheels really fell off the car. Russell crossed the finish line in eighteenth at the Australian Grand Prix. Although Australia was terrible, George bounced back somewhat in Azerbaijan, crossing the line in eighth.

If George can build off the finish, and the top three choices bomb, who knows? Maybe, Russell wins his first race of the year.
