A Look into the Eastern Conference
Atlantic Division winner Boston will be the top seed in the East
We’re really going out on a limb with this one.
The Bruins are 57-11 with 5 overtime losses. Boston has 119 points heading into their March 28 matchup versus the Nashville Predators.
The Bruins’ closest competitor are the Toronto Maple Leafs with 97 points. Boston is close to a slam dunk to win the Atlantic Division. Sure, Beantown could implode.
But we shouldn’t bet on it. The Bruins will not only be the top seed in the Eastern Conference, but they will have home ice advantage for Lord Stanley’s hardware should they manage to win the East.
Carolina will hold off New Jersey and NYR for the Metro Division title
In the last few days of March, the standings show Carolina with a 3 points lead over the surprising New Jersey Devils. Although the NJ Devils have played great hockey this season, we must believe the Canes hold them off for the Metro title.
Carolina boasts two fantastic centers. Martin Necas leads the team in points, 68, and assists, 41. Sebastian Aho leads the team with 33 goals.
All of Carolina’s goalies: Ferderik Andersen, Pyotr Kochetkov, and Antii Ranta, can get it done. Each boasts a save percentage above 90%. Andersen allows the most goals per, 2.45, each contest.
The Devils, Rangers, Islanders, Panthers, Maple Leafs, and Lightning will be the wild cards
The New Jersey Devils and Toronto Maple Leafs are locks to make it to the NHL Playoffs. The Tampa Bay Lightning are also a lock.
The New York Islanders, New York Rangers, and Florida Panthers will fill out the schedule. As of March 27, Florida is 3 points behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final wild card. The Panthers will prevail over the Pens.
A Look into the Western Conference
Defending champ Colorado overtakes Minnesota and wins the Central Division
Minnesota is a good team. So nobody should be surprised that the Wild and the Avs are in a battle for the Central Division’s top spot.
The Wild is going to give it their all, but there are too many games left for Minnesota to hold off Colorado and win the Central. The Avalanche repeat as Central Division champs.
The Kings get by Vegas to win the Pacific Division
Calgary and Edmonton were supposed to challenge Vegas for the Pacific Division title. Instead, it’s the Los Angeles Kings that are ready to pounce.
The Kings are just 2 points behind Vegas in the Pacific. Los Angeles hockey has had a rebirth this season.
Kevin Fiala and Adrian Kempe have turned the Kings into a Cup contender. Don’t be surprised when LA overtakes Vegas and wins the division.
The Wild, Golden Knights, Stars, Oilers, Kraken, and Jets make the playoffs as wild cards
The Minnesota Wild, Dallas Stars, Vegas Golden Knights, and Edmonton Oilers are good enough to win the Western Conference and the Stanley Cup. Those three teams are locks to make the postseason.
The Seattle Kraken and Winnipeg Jets shouldn’t beat the Kings or Avalanche in the first round. Winnipeg will hold off Calgary and Nashville for the Western Conference’s final playoff spot.
