2022 PGA Sentry Tournament of Champions Recap
In last year’s Sentry Tournament of Champions, Cameron Smith, Jon Rahm, and Matt Jones pulled away from the pack. Smith scored the win after shooting a -34.
Rahm finished second with a -33. Third place went to Jones after Matt shot a -32. Patrick Cantlay finished in fourth place with a -26. Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, and Daniel Berger finished tied for fifth after shooting a -25.

Not only did Justin Thomas shoot a -25 at last year’s Sentry Tournament of Champions, but he heads into this playing decent golf.
JT opened the season with a tied fortieth place finish at The CJ Cup in South Carolina. Although Justin finished a tied fortieth, he shot a 68 first round and a 69 fourth round, which tells us he got his game together towards the end of the tourney.
In his second tournament play, JT rocked it, finishing a tied fifth at the Hero World Challenge. Thomas should have sticks ready to go this week and warrants a long look to win the trophy.
2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions Second Pick
Many expect 2023 to be John Rahm’s breakout year. The favorite finished a tied fourth at The CJ Cup. Rahm followed up the fourth place finish with a tied eighth at the Hero World Challenge.
So far, the chalk in this has given every indication he can score a victory in this. So we shouldn’t be surprised if Jon wins. But the odds are too low to make Rahm the top choice. So we’ve relegated the favorite to second.
2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions Third Pick
In four tournaments played this season, Collin Morikawa has improved in each. He opened the season with a tied forty-fifth at the ZOZO Championship.
Collin improved in his next tournament played, The CJ Cup, to a tied twenty-ninth. Then in his third tournament, Morikawa improved again when finishing a tied fifteenth at the Worldwide Technology Championship.
The sixth-place finish at the Hero World Challenge implies Morikawa’s hitting the ball great. Any further improvement could land Morikawa at the trophy presentation.
2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions Underdog Pick
Max Homa hasn’t finished worse than a tied twenty-third in any of his four tournaments played this season. Max also has a victory already in the season.
Homa opened with a win at the Fortinet Championship. He then finished a tied twentieth at the Shriners Children’s Open and a tied twenty-third at The CJ Cup.
At the Hero World Challenge, Max finished seventeenth, which isn’t great considering there were just twenty golfers. But at this tournament last year Homa shot a -20.
