Only one Grand Slam tournament remains this 2023 ATP Tour season, and it stands to reason that the only two men to have won a Grand Slam title this year are the co-favorites to win it all once more when the action commences in the 2023 US Open. Who else is in contention for the crown other than living legend Novak Djokovic and the reigning champion in Flushing Meadows, Carlos Alacaraz?

Odds to Win the 2023 US Open Men’s Singles Tournament

Favorites to Win the 2023 US Open Men’s Singles Tournament

Novak Djokovic

Despite coming up one win short of a possible Calendar Slam campaign this year, Novak Djokovic simply continues to prove why he’s one of if not the greatest male tennis player to ever play the sport. Djokovic won the Australian and French Opens earlier this year and reached the final at Wimbledon as the superstar from Serbia guns for his 12th Grand Slam title in half a decade. The three-time US Open champion hasn’t won in Flushing Meadows since 2018, though, yet Nole’s terrific form in 2023 is enough to earn him the right to be called the odds-on favorite to reach the summit of a major tournament once more.

Carlos Alcaraz

Vengeance was surely sweet for top-ranked 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, who fell in the semis of Roland Garros to Djokovic only to avenge that loss with a victory in the Wimbledon Final against the all-time great. Alcaraz no longer has the stigma of being a one-hit wonder who stunned the tennis world by winning the 2022 US Open men’s singles title. In fact, the young Spanish sensation has had three wins in ATP 1000 events or better this season already. This includes an early win on the hard courts of the Indian Wells Masters to give him even more of a boost as a fantastic favorite to repeat as the US Open champion.

Dark Horses to Win the 2023 US Open Men’s Singles Tournament

Andrey Rublev

Slowly picking up steam is World No. 7 Andrey Rublev, who’s hot off a strong quarterfinal showing at Wimbledon. The 25-year-old Russian had also just picked up his first-ever ATP Masters title in the hard-court affair over at Monte Carlo earlier this year, as he looks to finally have that breakout ATP campaign everyone is waiting for. Rublev’s always been a tough out at a Grand Slam, reaching the quarters on seven occasions since 2020. He also has the most quarterfinal appearances in his career at the US Open with three, making him an enticing sleeper pick to win his maiden Grand Slam event in Flushing Meadows this September.

Christopher Eubanks

Another 2023 Wimbledon quarterfinalist on the rise who’ll be a crowd favorite in New York is Christopher Eubanks, who’s knocking on a top-30 ranking with another superb performance under his belt. The 25-year-old just picked up his first ATP Tour victory at the Mallorca Open this June as a fantastic tune-up tourney for his spirited run at Wimby. Although Eubanks has proven to be a force on the grass courts already, he’ll have to show why he’s an intriguing sleeper pick on the hard courts of the Billie Jean King Center, where he’s not advanced past the second round of the US Open just yet.

Huge Reach to Win the 2023 US Open Men’s Singles Tournament

John Isner

Greensboro’s very own John Isner was once a highlight waiting to happen at a Grand Slam. However, the 38-year-old veteran has contemplated on retiring from professional tennis this year, and his play has certainly shown his age. While Isner’s last great showing at a Grand Slam was at the US Open, it was back in the quarterfinal stage of the event in 2018. Since then, Isner has not advanced past the third round in his next 16 Grand Slam appearances, including three quick first-round exits from such tournaments this year.
