Favorites to Win the 2023 US Open Women’s Singles Tournament

Iga Swiatek

Coming off a quarterfinal upset in Wimbledon, World No. 1 Iga Swiatek will be out for blood as she defends her US Open title. The 22-year-old Polish powerhouse added Grand Slam title number four to her trophy case with a win at the French Open earlier this year and will enter Flushing Meadows as the odds-on favorite to repeat as US Open champ. Swiatek is not a surefire lock to reach the final of any given Grand Slam final, but she’s widely regarded as the most successful player in the WTA Tour as we speak, and her 13-3 lifetime record as the US Open is another plus.

Aryna Sabalenka

Arguably even more consistent in big-time moments of late is World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka, who finally reached the Grand Slam summit for the first time in her career by winning the 2023 Australian Open. Not only that, but the 25-year-old standout from Minsk has made it to the semifinal stage of a Grand Slam event in six of her last eight runs. That being said, Sabalenka has every reason to be seen as a worthy co-favorite to win her maiden US Open singles title a few weeks from now.

Dark Horses to Win the 2023 US Open Women’s Singles Tournament

Elina Svitolina

Becoming a mother for the first time has done wonders for Elina Svitolina’s comeback in 2023. Svitolina, who’s married to another tennis star Gael Monfils, has been a strong contender this year at Grand Slams, reaching the quarters in Roland Garros followed by a sweet semifinal push in London. With this upward trajectory for the beautiful Ukrainian, there’s nowhere else to go but up for Svitolina, who’s now a compelling sleeper pick to win her first Grand Slam title at the age of 28.

Emma Raducanu

Another former US Open champion seeks to bounce back from injury woes as Emma Raducanu prepares for her return to Flushing Meadows. The 2021 US Open champ has struggled mightily since her breakout win, failing to escape the second round in all five of her succeeding Grand Slam appearances. Now having recovered from nagging ankle and wrist issues, Raducanu is a tempting sleeper candidate to relive her magic a couple of years back, especially with the high return on investment given her status as a former champion at the event.

Huge Reach to Win the 2023 US Open Women’s Singles Tournament

Sofia Kenin

As the 2020 Australian Open champion, one would assume that Sofia Kenin would have similar success on the courts of the Billie Jean King Center. Unfortunately, the 24-year-old Russian is just 9-7 at the US Open, has not had a stellar Grand Slam performance since making the final at Roland Garros that same year that she won in Melbourne, and is now in danger of falling out of the top 200 rankings altogether. In turn, Kenin is no more than a longshot to pull off a shock victory at Flushing Meadows this yea
