Hideki Matsuyama

Although Japanese sensation Hideki Matsuyama hasn’t won a tournament this season battling with neck issues, he’s still a notable sleeper candidate to win his second major this week. The former Masters champion has three-career top 10s at the U.S. Open, including being tied for the runner-up spot in 2017 and finishing solo fourth last year. Matsuyama also has four top-20 finishes in his last six starts, proving that his questionable health hasn’t factored into his production as badly as many had expected.

Justin Rose

It was exactly a decade ago when Justin Rose stunned the world and won the 2013 U.S. Open in Merion. The 42-year-old Brit has shown signs of aging yet this season either, as he’s on a roll with seven made cuts to date to go with three top-10 finishes during this stretch. Rose also won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February, making him yet another terrific sleeper pick to become a two-time U.S. Open champion. Finishing tied for third in this major back in 2019 also helps.

Adam Scott

Another PGA TOUR veteran making steady waves this season is Adam Scott, who’s made bank in all 11 of his starts this season. Even better for the Aussie is his recent performances, with three top-10 finishes in his last four starts. Scott hasn’t been a huge threat in the majors for a few years now, but it’s his current momentum that gives him decent sleeper value to win his second-career major title and first since winning the 2013 Masters.
