2022 Xfinity 500 Recap

Joe Gibbs driver Christopher Bell started twentieth and made his way to first. Bell took the checkered flag ahead of second place finisher Kyle Larson.

Ryan Blaney finished third, followed by Ross Chastain in fourth and Denny Hamlin in fifth. Joey Logano finished sixth, William Byron seventh, and Bubba Wallace eighth. Ninth place went to Chase Briscoe and Chase Elliott crossed the line in tenth.

Top Choice to Win the 2023 Xfinity 500

Christopher Bell not only won the 2022 Xfinity 500, but he won the 4Ever 400, last Sunday’s Round of 8 playoff event. It’s all systems go for the Joe Gibbs driver, who also is leading the NASCAR Playoff Cup Standings.

Bell has secured a spot in the NASCAR Playoffs Championship 4 at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale next Sunday on Nov 5. The win at the 4Ever 400 assured the spot.

But just because he doesn’t have to win the Xfinity 500, it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t want to win the race. If the current odds are anywhere close to the 20-to-1 Bell opened at, the top choice is an overlay.

Second Choice to Win the 2023 Xfinity 500

Driving in Jeff Gordon’s famed number 24 ride, William Byron has become one of Hendrick’s top drivers. Byron finished fourth last Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

William is just third on the NASCAR Playoff Standings. The only way to ensure a spot in the final four in next Sunday’s title race is to win the Xfinity 500. So we should expect Byron to be all out to grab the checkered flag.

If the odds were higher, we’d consider making William our top choice. But at +2000, Christopher Bell is the much better play.

Third Choice to Win the 2023 Xfinity 500

Martin didn’t have a great, 2022 Xfinity 500. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver finished twentieth. Pressure, though, will be on this Sunday because Truex Jr., like every driver except Larson and Bell, will be striving to make the final four.

Martin and his crew had high hopes heading into the 4Ever 400 at Homestead-Miami. Truex Jr. won the pole. But engine trouble forced him to cross the line twenty-ninth. Truex Jr. will be motivated to make amends for the hiccup.

Like Byron, Martin will give it his all on Sunday. If it works out, Truex Jr. is another that can secure the checkered flag.

Top Underdog to Win the 2023 Xfinity 500

40-to-1 odds on Ross Chastain makes the Trackhouse Racing Team driver an overlay. Chastain started eighth at Homestead-Miami last Sunday.

Ross finished thirty-first, but he did so because of an accident. In the 2022 Xfinity 500, Chastain started ninth and finished fourth.

Ross could play upsetter and beat the NASCAR Cup contenders by crossing the finish line first. Also, the odds make Chastain more than playable.
