A Closer Look at the Top Xfinity 500 Sleeper Picks

Daniel Suarez

  • 2023 Xfinity 500 Race Odds: +6,900

Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, Daniel Suarez lurks in the background as a favored sleeper pick of the pack. The Trackhouse Racing driver is in his third season racing with the team owned by Justin Marks and Pitbull. Suarez etched his name in NASCAR history and became the first Mexican-born driver to win a Cup Series race. After winning the 2016 Xfinity Series Championship, Suarez quickly made his mark in the Cup Series after crossing first at Sonoma Raceway in June 2022.

Suarez ranks 18th in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series standings. He racked up 727 points across 34 races, including 10 top-10 finishes and three top-five appearances. The Mexican driver also held a pole start this season but suffered a handful of unlucky moments since picking up five DNFs. The 31-year-old logs an average start of 16.265 to go with his average finish of 18.794.

A.J. Allmendinger

  • 2023 Xfinity 500 Race Odds: +10,000

Kaulig Racing driver A.J. Allmendinger has quite the portfolio. He documented 17 total Xfinity Series victories under his belt, with 15 of those achieved with Kaulig. The other two career Xfinity Series wins happened during his stint with Team Penske. The California native found positive results with Team Penske, Richard Petty Motorsports, JTG Daugherty Racing, and Red Bull Racing in the Cup Series. His first win in NASCAR’s top-flight division came at Watkins Glen International in 2014. A second win waited for some time. Nonetheless, Allmendinger came through and scored his second Cup Series win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course in August 2021, which also serves as his second win for Kaulig Racing in the series.

The seasoned veteran returned to winning status in 2023 and showcased his technical driving talent at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. He ranks 20th in the standings with 678 points in 34 races this season. Furthermore, Allmendinger logged seven top-10 finishes and four top-five finishes to his name in 2023.

Austin Cindric

  • 2023 Xfinity 500 Race Odds: +10,000

Racing the No. 2 Team Penske Ford in the NASCAR Cup Series this season is 25-year-old race car driver Austin Cindric. The North Carolina-born driver made the jump to the sport’s highest division in 2022. In his first regular-season outing with the team, Cindric established himself right away with a Daytona 500 win. He also won the 2020 Xfinity Series before joining the Cup Series, earning five wins in the 2021 season alone to bring his career Xfinity wins up to 13.

Cindric’s 2023 efforts got him up to 23rd place in the driver standings. He amassed 596 points in 34 appearances, joining the top-10 four times and showing up in the top-5 once. Although he has yet to win a Cup Series race, a late victory might open up for him once things start going his way. Furthermore, the Team Penske driver holds an average start of 17.971 and an average finish of 21.618.
