The world’s fourth-ranked golfer and defending FedEx Cup winner has had an interesting start to the season. Viktor Hovland finished twenty-second at The Sentry.
He followed the twenty-second place finish at The Sentry up with a fifty-eighth at the 3-round AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. In his last, the Genesis Invitational, Hovland shot well, finishing a tied nineteenth.
His trajectory suggests he is on the verge of a top ten finish. Hovland finished tenth in this last season. So it wouldn’t take much for him to improve enough to lift the trophy.
2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational Second Pick
Xander Schauffele’s first two rounds at the 2023 Arnold Palmer were excellent, -4 and -2. He struggled in the final couple of rounds, shooting a +3 and +1.
Schauffele’s been on fire this season, though. Save for the fifty-plus finish at Pebble Beach, canceling the fourth round destroyed a lot of scorecards, Schauffele boasts three top ten finishes in four tournaments played. The man is ready to win. So if you like, go for it.

Still, at the odds, and even if Rory ends up in the final pairing on Sunday, he’s tough to put on top.
