2024 CJ CUP Byron Nelson Top Pick
After a missed cut at The Players Championship and a forty-fourth at the Teas Children’s Houston Open, many didn’t believe Will Zalatoris had a chance at The Masters. All Zalatoris did was shoot even par after a blistering 69 final round.
Will bounced some in the RBC Heritage. A closer look reveals that the bounce came in the final round, where he shot a 74. Before the 74, Zalatoris had posted a 68-70-68. When Zalatoris’ putter is on, he’s close to unstoppable. Give the +2000 top pick a chance.
2024 CJ CUP Byron Nelson Second Pick
The defending champion Jason Day has scored two decent finishes in a row. At The Masters, Day shot a +3 to finish a tied thirtieth.
Then at the RBC Heritage, Day got it going. The second choice shot a 68-69-72-66 to finish at -9 and a tied eighteenth. Jason could be coming up to his best performance of the year. If he hits the ground running with a decent first round, a repeat would be more than possible.
2024 CJ CUP Byron Nelson Third Pick
Jordan Spieth had a terrible Masters. After shooting a 79 on Thursday and a 74 on Friday, Jordan missed the cut, packed his bags, and went home.
The RBC Heritage performance was okay. Spieth shot a 67-second round and a 69 third round. But the -6 was only good enough for a tied thirty-ninth. The odds are the biggest problem. At +1200, we expect the golfer to be in good form. Spieth is in just okay form.
2024 CJ CUP Byron Nelson Underdog Pick
Min Woo Lee didn’t play at the RBC Heritage, which is why he’s flying under the radar to win the Byron Nelson. The missed cut at the Valspar Championship was bad.
But Lee bounced back at The Masters, scoring 74-74-75-69 to finish at +4 and a tied twenty-second. If Lee can carry the momentum he gained at The Masters, he could surprise big time. At +2800, Min Woo is worth a look.
