2024 College Football Week 1 Must Bet Games

By Hank Blaine

Although College Football Week 1 is more than eight weeks away, it’s never too early to make bets. The reason? Betting early allows us to jump onto the most optimal spread lines. With that in mind, check out college football odds where available, analysis, and picks for eight College Football Week 1’s top plays.

Top 8 Must Bet Games for 2024 College Football Week 1

Georgia vs. Clemson

Once the sharps get involved, this line is going to explode. Clemson doesn’t have the players that can hang with Kirby Smart’s highly motivated bunch. Georgia (-13.5) will boast one of the nation’s top defenses, maybe, this season’s best, while the offense is going to roll behind Heisman Trophy candidate Carson Beck. Also, the game happens in Atlanta.

Georgia Tech vs. Florida State

Florida State isn’t nearly as strong this season as they were last season. The Seminoles lost three key players, quarterback Jordan Travis, wide receiver Keon Coleman, and defensive end Jared Verse to the NFL.

G-Tech (+13.5) isn’t a great team, but the offense will score points and the defense should be improved from last year’s unit. The Jackets keep this closer than the spread.

Boston College vs. Florida State

Boston College (+21.5) almost beat Florida State straight up last season. Not only that, but BC often has a tough defense and the offense could make strides versus an FSU defense that may not be as good as advertised.

Jump on this line right now if you agree. If FSU falters against G-Tech in their first game in week 1, Boston College ends up an underlay against the spread.

Fresno State vs. Michigan

Michigan will be good. But they won’t be 20.5 points better than Fresno State in College Football Week 1. For starters, Sherrone Moore has a lot of fresh faces on both sides of the ball.

It could take some time for the Wolverines to gel. Fresno State boasts seniors on offense and defense. So although Michigan wins, the game is going to be much closer than the 20.5 points spread.

USC vs. LSU

Louisiana State is a -6.5 favorite on the spread line. The moneyline should make the Trojans more than playable. D’Anton Lynn turned UCLA’s defense around during a single offseason.

For sure, he can do the same for the Trojans. This is especially true because Lynn transferred Oregon State star linebacker Easton Mascarenas-Arnold to SoCal. In addition, the game happens on the West Coast at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas.

Hawaii vs. UCLA

Hawaii (+16.5) isn’t a good football team. But UCLA is giving up way too many points because the Bruins also aren’t a good football team.

UCLA not only lost their head coach, Chip Kelly coaches Ron Day’s offense at Ohio State, they also lost their defensive coordinator, D’Anton Lynn, to rival USC. The top players didn’t transfer to UCLA. Hawaii surprises by making this game close.

Wyoming vs. Arizona State

Wyoming has a real chance of beating Arizona State. The Cowboys are full of graduate transfers, seniors, and juniors, while Arizona State send cast off players to the field.

The Sun Devils are lucky to be in the Big 12. If it weren’t for ranked Arizona telling the Big 12 that unless the conference took ASU as well as Arizona, the Wildcats weren’t going, ASU could be stuck playing in the ACC. The Cowboys expose ASU’s inexperience in a semi-shocking victory.

TCU vs. Stanford

The Horned Frogs, the 2022 National Championship runner ups, will bounce back with a terrific season. The bounce back starts by throttling Stanford by close to 30 points.

Simply put, the Cardinal has a semblance of a football program. David Shaw tried to keep it together, but transfer portal has made Stanford’s football, and the basketball program as well, an afterthought.

Sonny Dykes rebuilt the offensive line and added serious talent on the defensive side. The Frogs dominate.
