San Diego State Aztecs

The 2023 runner-up finished fifth in the Mountain West Conference and didn’t win the MWC Tournament. However, the Aztecs are still one of the most dangerous under the radar squads heading into the tournament.

SDSU beat ranked Utah State before falling to the New Mexico Lobos in their conference tournament. Not only that, but the Aztecs are build for March and proved last season that they can play above their talent level.

Florida Gators

The SEC was brutal this season, which is why backing unranked Florida to have a great NCAA Tournament makes sense.

The Gators beat Alabama twice when winning 4-of-5 before the SEC Tournament final. The loss to Vanderbilt, on the road by a point, was the only separating the Gators from going 5-0 down the regular season stretch and a game or two into the SEC tourney. Florida will get it done during March Madness.

Mississippi State Bulldogs

Here’s another SEC team that has a ton of tournament upside. Mississippi State beat the Tennessee Volunteers not once, but twice this season. The Bulldogs also got victories against Washington State and Auburn.

So although the Dogs lost 13 during the season, the quality victories tell us the team can step it up. When it comes to unranked teams that have tremendous upside offering massive odds to just make it to the Elite Eight or Final Four, few are as solid of a play as the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Texas Longhorns

Texas has a sneaky decent record. The Longhorns didn’t shy away from an early season game versus UConn. The Horns lost by 10, but it was a quality loss.

Texas then beat Baylor and Oklahoma when the Sooner were ranked eleventh in the nation. Late regular season victories over West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma again, and Texas Tech signal that Texas is in decent form.

There is also another quality loss on the record, 70-65 versus Iowa State, one of the hottest teams in the nation and the Big 12 Tournament titlist. Give the Texas Longhorns a big chance to do some damage in the tournament.

Florida Atlantic Owls

It’s been a weird season for Florida Atlantic. However, the team remains one of the most talented heading into the NCAA Touranment. The unranked Owls boast one of the tournament’s top players in Johnell Davis.

Davis is Mr. March. He proved it last season and will do so this season. Center Vladislav Golden averages close to 16 points and 7 boards per game. Don’t be surprised if the talented Owls make another Final Four appearance.
