49ers vs. Packers 2022 NFL Divisional Round Odds, Preview & Pick
It will be bitterly cold on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field on Saturday night as the NFC top-seeded Green Bay Packers made their postseason debut against the San Francisco 49ers. If the Pack win, they host the NFC title game for a second year in a row. If the 49ers win, they would visit either the Rams or Bucs in the conference championship game.
These teams played Week 3 at San Francisco – the weather will be massively different Saturday – and the Packers won 30-28. Aaron Rodgers completed two deep passes to Davante Adams on a last-minute drive, setting up Mason Crosby’s 51-yard field goal on the final play of the game. The Packers took over at their 25 with 37 seconds left and no timeouts following Jimmy Garoppolo’s 12-yard TD pass to Kyle Juszczyk. San Francisco had rallied from 17 points down to take the lead before getting crushed by Rodgers.

Why Bet on the San Francisco 49ers?
San Francisco was an upset winner in Dallas last week, 23-17. Garoppolo completed 16-of-25 passes for 172 yards, zero touchdowns, and one terrible interception that gave the Cowboys life down 23-10. Jimmy G sprained his throwing shoulder in the second quarter but played through it and will be out there Saturday.
Rookie running back Elijah Mitchell has become a breakout star, rushing for the second-most yards by a rookie in franchise history, with 963 yards. In last week’s game against the Cowboys, Mitchell’s 96 rushing yards were the most in the NFL on Wild-Card Weekend. Mitchell is banged up but will play in this one.
Pro Bowl linebacker Fred Warner tweeted he will be “good to go” after suffering an ankle injury in the team’s Wild Card win over the Cowboys. Warner limped off the field in the fourth quarter and was unable to return. An MRI was clear. Warner totaled 137 combined tackles and seven TFLs in the regular season. However, star pass-rusher Nick Bosa is in question after getting banged up vs. Dallas.
Niners coach Kyle Shanahan believes his team has greatly improved from their regular season matchup that ended in a loss of just two points vs. the Packers.
“It’s just nice to see when a team’s executing better,” Shanahan said. “When you feel like guys are practicing, playing better together as a unit. I think we’re in a better spot now than we were at that time.”
Why Bet on the Green Bay Packers?
Rodgers grew up not far from San Francisco as a 49ers fan but is 0-3 against the Niners in his playoff career. In the NFC title game two seasons ago, the Niners rolled the visiting Packers 37-20. Raheem Mostert rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns but he’s out injured now. Rodgers threw for 326 yard and two scores but those were mostly empty numbers. He was picked twice. Niners QB Jimmy Garoppolo attempted only eight passes because the Niners were running the ball so well.
Because Green Bay was the NFC’s top seed, it didn’t play on Wild-Card Weekend and should be about as healthy as possible, although receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (back) was downgraded to “DNP” at Wednesday’s practice. MVS was limited Tuesday, so his status for Saturday’s game is in doubt after the deep-threat was injured in Week 18. If he sits, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb are likely to round out three-wide sets behind Davante Adams.
Cobb, who suffered a core muscle injury on Nov. 28 against the Rams, is still on injured reserve. The Packers will need to activate him to the 53-man roster before Saturday and they will. Cobb missed the final five games of the regular season after having surgery to correct the issue. He caught 28 passes for 375 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games before the injury. Cobb had provided Rodgers with a familiar and reliable target in the slot that allowed Adams to make more plays on the outside. Lazard’s production has increased since Cobb’s injury. The team’s second-leading receiver during the regular season, Lazard caught five touchdowns during the final five games.
