Why Bet on the San Francisco 49ers?
The good times could not last forever for the San Francisco 49ers, who saw their bid for an undefeated season come to an end after the Week 7 road upset at the hands of the Cleveland Browns, 19-17. Had it not been for a missed game-winning field-goal attempt by rookie kicker Jake Moody, San Francisco would’ve ended the week as the sole unbeaten team in the NFL.
Moody’s mistake was not the only bad news from the Niners’ camp during that loss. Brock Purdy threw his first career interception as a pro and threw for just 125 passing yards, while standout weapon Christian McCaffrey (oblique) and Deebo Samuel (shoulder) both suffered scary injuries.
Thankfully, both CMC and Deebo’s respective injuries are not as serious as many had speculated, as the two are expected to play in Week 7’s MNF showdown. Furthermore, the Niners still boast the league’s best scoring defense allowing just an average of 14.5 points to their opponents and they’ll be taking on a clumsy Minnesota offense that leads the league in turnovers with 13 giveaways in six games.
Why Bet on the Minnesota Vikings?
Against all odds, the Minnesota Vikings pulled away with a 19-13 road victory in the Windy City over the Chicago Bears even without superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson. The Vikings improved to 2-4 for the season, albeit with their win over the Bears still leaving a lot to be desired.
Kirk Cousins was held to just 181 passing yards and a single passing TD, while Minnesota only managed to muster up 46 rushing yards on 22 carries as a team. The Vikes converted just two of their 13 third-down attempts during the contest as their underperforming division rivals hung tough even with Justin Fields sitting out the second half due to a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand.
Had it not been for a late interception off of Chicago’s backup QB Tyler Bagent, the Vikings might’ve suffered its worst defeat of the season. Minny’s defense wasn’t able to contain a pair of potent offenses from real playoff contenders earlier this season (the Eagles and the Chiefs), and it won’t get any easier with the Niners coming to town on Monday night.
49ers vs. Vikings Betting Trends
- San Francisco is 6-1 in the last seven regular-season road games (4-3 ATS).
- The 49ers are 3-1 in its last four games against NFC North opponents (SU/ATS).
- The totals went over in six of San Francisco’s last nine regular-season outings in general.
- Minnesota is on a three-game home losing streak (SU/ATS).
- The Vikings are 4-2 against the Niners since 2007 (3-3 ATS).
- The totals went under in each of the last three games played in Minneapolis.
49ers vs. Vikings Expert Betting Predictions
This should still be an easily moneyline win for the 49ers regardless despite the possibility of being short-handed for Week 7’s primetime affair. But should both McCaffrey and Samuel be ruled out for Monday Night Football, then the Vikings could realistically cover the relatively long spread as home dogs. Then again, with Jefferson placed on IR, the Vikes will still likely end up with a deflating loss regardless of the final score.
