Top Boxing Betting Picks of the Week (January 8th, 2024)

Beterbiev vs. Smith – Videotron Centre, Quebec City, Quebec (ESPN/ESPN+)

  • When: Saturday, January 13th, 2024. 10:00pm ET

Christopher Guerrero vs. Sergio Garcia Herrera

Herrera does have a winning record. The +840 underdog has won 7 and lost 3. Herrera has also knocked out 4 of his opponents. So the underdog has shown power.

But although Herrera has a puncher’s chance, he’s up against it versus Christopher Guerrero. The -2000 favorite is 9-0 with 5 knockout or technical knockout victories. If you don’t want to back Guerrero on the moneyline, look for a knockout prop.

Boxing Betting Pick: Christopher Guerrero -2000

Imam Khataev vs. Joaquin Murrieta Lucio

Joaquin Murrieta Lucio knows what the goal is. Lucio has a 12-12-3 record, which means he’s on this card to do a couple of things: a) get the fellow Canadians fired up, and b) make Imam Khataev look good.

Don’t get it wrong. Lucio is going to try to win this bout, but Khataev is 5-0 with 5 stoppage victories. Khataev ends Lucio’s night early.

Boxing Betting Pick: Imam Khataev -3333

Christian Mbilli vs. Roham Murdock // WBA International, WBC Continental Americas Super Middleweight Title

Both Mbilli and Murdock have decent power. Murdock is 27-2 with 19 wins before the final bell. Mbilli is 25-0 with 21 KO or TKO victories.

Mbilli should win this no problem. Murdock will move forward in this and try to go to toe-to-toe with Mbilli. Any time an opponent has tried that, Christian has made him pay. Under is a solid play considering the fact Mbilli should end it early and under offers an over +100 payout.

Boxing Betting Pick: Under 5.5

Jason Moloney vs. Saul Sanchez // WBO World Bantamweight Title

In 2020, Nayo Inoue destroyed Jason Moloney, knocking out the favorite in this in the seventh round. Since suffering the loss, Moloney has bounced back big time with 5 straight victories.

Saul Sanchez has won 2 straight since suffering a split-decision loss to Eros Correa. If you don’t know who Eros Correa is, or who Saul Sanchez is for that matter, don’t worry. Not many non-boxing fans do.

In any case, Moloney should win this. Sanchez is a decent boxer, but he doesn’t have the power to handle an elite pugilist like Moloney.

Boxing Betting Pick: Jason Moloney -476

Callum Smith vs. Artur Beterbiev // WBC, IBF, WBO World Light Heavyweight Title

Callum Smith’s lone loss came via unanimous decision in a fight versus Canelo Alvarez. The bout happened back in 2020. Since then, Smith has fought twice.

The two fights, against Gilbert Castillo Rivera and Mathieu Bauderlique, doesn’t come closer to preparing Smith to take on the great Artur Beterbiev. The 3-belt champ sports a 19-0 record with 19 stoppage wins.

Beterbiev will end Smith’s night before the final bell. Look for a knockout prop, or go under the total once oddsmakers set a line.

Boxing Betting Pick: Artur Beterbiev -556
