Top Boxing Betting Picks of the Week – May 19th, 2022

By Hank Blaine

Like almost every Saturday, great boxing matches happen in Las Vegas and London. This Saturday night, Showtime has a great fight card headlined by two tough, hard-punching pugilists in David Benavidez and David Lemieux. Benavidez is the big time chalk. Will Lemieux pull off the upset? See below for boxing odds on NitroBetting, analysis, and free choices for Alvarez versus Bivol and four other top boxing matches, including a pair of bareknuckle bouts on Friday night.

Top Boxing Betting Picks of the Week (May 19th, 2022)

Showtime Boxing

  • When: Saturday, May 21, 2022

Alen Babic vs. Adam Balski

10-0 with 10 knockout wins, Alen Babic heads into the ring for this 12 round event versus Adam Balski the favorite. But although Babic has a sterling record, Balski shows just a single loss. Balski is 16-1. The loss happened via unanimous decision. Still, it’s tough to take Balski’s record seriously. Every fight has happened in his native Poland. Babic wins.

Boxing Betting Pick: Alen Babic -455

Zach Parker vs. Demetrius Andrade

27-year-old Zach Parker is 22-0 with 16 knockout wins. Parker hasn’t won a fight via the scorecards since he beat then 17-0 Daryll Williams via split decision. Since then, Parker has decided not to leave anything to chance. Demetrius Andrade is a fantastic boxer. He’s 31-0 with 19 knockout wins. But Andrade is 34. Parker’s youth gives him the edge.

Boxing Betting Pick: Zach Parker +162

Jamaine Ortiz vs. Jamel Herring

15-0-1 with 8 knockout victories, most expect Jamaine Ortiz to add another loss to Jamel Herring’s record. Ortiz has shown great patience in his fights. Ortiz doesn’t always go for the knockout. But if it’s there, he’ll take it. Jamaine’s ability to win a match via boxing or brawling should serve him well in this bout. Jamel Herring last fought against Shakur Stevenson. It didn’t turn out well. Stevenson put on a boxing clinic, eventually ending Herring’s night in the tenth round. Ortiz is an excellent boxer, but he’s not on Shakur’s level. Herring bounces back with a victory.

Boxing Betting Pick: Jamel Herring +195

WBO Interim World Middleweight Title

Danny Dignum vs. Janibek Alimkhanuly

Dignum is 14-0-1 with 8 knockout victories. Dignum won his last bout, versus then 17-3 Grant Dennis, via sixth round technical knockout. Dignum is a solid boxer. He won’t force anything, stays out trouble, but can knock out an opponent if there’s an opening. But although Dignum is solid, he faces a strong competitor on Saturday night.

Janibek Alimkhanuly is 11-0 with 7 knockout victories. Alimkhanuly is an excellent boxer with power. He’ll keep Dignum guessing all night. Alimkhanuly should win. So look for a prop bet before accepting the low odds.

Boxing Betting Pick: Janibek Alimkhanuly -1300

WBC Interim World Super Middleweight Title

David Benavidez vs. David Lemieux

Lemieux is one of the hardest hitting super middleweights on the planet. He’s also on a winning streak. After falling to Billy Joe Saunders in 2017, Lemieux has won 5 straight. Lemieux bested then 34-4 David Zegarra last June via a second round knockout victory. On Saturday night, Lemieux steps up big time. He takes on a seriously talented boxer in David Benavidez. Benavidez is 25-0 with 22 knockout wins. But although Benavidez should win this bout, it won’t be easy. Lemieux is a veteran with a lot of experience. He’s got cagey moves that will keep Benavidez on his toes. Expect Lemieux to make Benavidez work hard. Over the 4 ½ rounds at -120 looks like the best play.

Boxing Betting Pick: Over 4 ½ rounds
