Why Bet on the Denver Broncos?
It’s not too late for the 3-5 Denver Broncos to turn things around, especially considering that they won back-to-back games entering their Week 9 bye. Not only are they on a roll, but their last victory also happened to come against the Chiefs, who’ve beaten them 17 straight times prior to their Week 8 upset.
Russell Wilson did not need to take matters into his own hands as often during Denver’s win over KC, going just 12-of-19 for 114 passing yards while still throwing three touchdown passes. The Broncos’ rushing attack was what led to Kansas City’s loss, with Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin, and Co. combined for 153 rushing yards.
Although the Broncos’ defense still ranks dead last in both yards and points allowed per contest, it has still seen a significant improvement over their last couple of wins. They’ve held the Chiefs to just nine points in Week 8 and an average of 13 points per contest counting their victory over the Packers the week prior. With Buffalo going through a funk of sorts lately, Denver could have another resounding upset in store.
Why Bet on the Buffalo Bills?
In arguably the biggest matchup of Week 9, the Buffalo Bills came up short of getting their revenge from last year’s playoffs against the Cincinnati Bengals. Buffalo has dropped three of its last five games and has looked far from the strong Super Bowl contender that has become the team’s claim to fame.
There’s only so much that Josh Allen can do on his own. Allen completed 26 of 38 passes for 258 yards, one touchdown pass, and one interception, as the Bills got close to nothing out of their running game once more (68 rushing yards as a team). Allen has now thrown at least one interception in each of his last five starts and seven out of the nine games he’s played this season.
Buffalo’s scoring defense is on the cusp of losing its top-five position, as the team is now ranked fifth in that category at 17.8 points allowed per contest. The myriad of injuries on the defensive side of the ball has finally caught up to the Bills, who’ve now given up 24 or more points to each of their last three opponents. They’re still ranked tied for the fourth-most sacks in the league (29), which means that this stop unit hasn’t imploded as badly as one would assume considering the recent season-ending losses of Matt Milano (leg) and Tre’Davious White (knee).
Broncos vs. Bills Betting Trends
- Denver is 1-7 in the last eight road games (2-5-1 ATS).
- The Broncos are 1-4 in its last five outings versus AFC West teams (SU/ATS).
- The totals went over in four of Denver’s last five games on the road.
- Buffalo is 8-1 in the last nine home games (4-5 ATS).
- The Bills are 5-2 in its last seven games against teams from the AFC East (SU/ATS).
- The totals went under in all three of the most recent games played in Orchard Park.
Broncos vs. Bills Expert Betting Predictions
As encouraging as the Broncos’ recent winning streak is, they might be running into a buzzsaw in the form of the Bills on their home turf, especially when you take into account Denver’s miserable road record of late. That being said, Buffalo has gone winless against the spread in their last five outings, which does have us leaning toward the Broncos covering the spread and as a more appealing bet to make until the Bills string together convincing victories to reclaim some of their ATS credibility.
