Bucks vs. Nets 2023 NBA Odds and Preview – February 28th

By Jeff Stinger

The Bucks and the Nets face each other for a third time this season. It was the 2021 NBA champions that drew first blood in the four-game regular-season series. However, Brooklyn hit hard in their second meeting and pulled away with an 18-point victory. This particular meeting is more compelling as Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn gets to test out an almost entirely different starting five against Milwaukee. It’s a tall order for the hosts to try and stop a Bucks team riding a 14-game win streak, but the Nets are eager to snap out of their 1-4 run in front of their home crowd.

Nitrobetting shares the latest news, NBA odds, and special features throughout the 2022-23 NBA season. Let’s get a closer look at the upcoming Bucks vs. Nets face-off in this preview.

Why Bet on the Milwaukee Bucks?

The Bucks are the hottest property right now in terms of defense. There’s no question that they can lock down the best teams out there. Milwaukee averages 111.2 opponent points per game, holding teams to 45.1% shooting. These two figures alone are good for fourth-best and second-best in the league, respectively. More than that, the squad limits competitors to 51.3% from the two-point and 34.3% from the three-point range and averages a league-best 57.8 total rebounds per game.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the heart and soul of this team. The “Greek Freak” led the franchise to its second championship title in 2021 and is on pace to take the franchise to another playoff appearance at this rate. The forward averages 31.25 points and 12.00 boards per game, while Jrue Holiday logs the second-best scoring record in the team with 19.82 points and a team-best 7.10 assists per game.

Milwaukee does enough on the offensive end. The squad averages 114.9 points per game on 46.3% shooting. They have competent two-point shooting figures at 54.7% while keeping the deep shots steady at 35.9%.

Why Bet on the Brooklyn Nets?

Brooklyn’s erratic season continues, but the arrival of new talented players like Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, and Dorian Finney-Smith breathed life into the already depleted lineup. This gives them more time on the floor and a chance to improve their talent further. Guard Spencer Dinwiddie also makes it back to his former team in a recent trade that involved Kyrie Irving.

The Nets have a shot at avoiding Play-In and sit sixth in the Eastern Conference. At the moment, the team averages 113.8 points per game on a second-best 50.0% shooting. They have one of the best two and three-point shooting figures in the league, hitting 57.0% and 38.8%, respectively. Since Irving and Durant departed the team, Mikal Bridges took on the scoring responsibilities for the team. He currently leads the team with 22.40 points per game in five appearances. Former Suns forward Cameron Johnson is also thriving with 16.20 points per game.

On the flip side, the Nets have decent defensive figures to show for it. The squad limits teams to 112.9 points per game, holding opponents to 46.0% shooting and 51.2% from short and mid-range.

Bucks vs. Nets Betting Trends

  • The totals went under in four of the Bucks’ last five road contests.
  • The Nets are 2-2 in the last four games at Barclays Center (3-1 ATS).
  • The Nets are 5-5 in the last five contests versus the Bucks (5-5 ATS).
  • The totals went over in three of the Nets’ last five home games.

Bucks vs. Nets Expert Betting Prediction

The Nets have been erratic these last few weeks as it looks like the team is only starting to get to know each other. The reality is, without KD, it takes some time to give this new roster some momentum. Nevertheless, with talents like Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Dorian Finney-Smith getting some playing time, we expect this lineup to flourish once they get a fitting system in place.

Meanwhile, the Bucks enter the floor with a relentless pace. It’s going to be tough to take on this freight train on a double-digit win streak. Brooklyn has a shot at covering the spread and can only hope to keep the scoreline close. More than that, they have a better shot at defending their ground with Giannis Antetokounmpo day-to-day.
