Buddy Hield 2022 NBA Trade Predictions

By Carlos Chacon

Buddy Hield was drafted by the Pelicans in 2016 and spent his rookie year in New Orleans before getting traded to the Sacramento Kings the following year. This is where he’s spent the majority of his NBA career, so far. We’ve seen the guard produce incredible performances. The 29-year-old is deadly from the three-point range. He is a key component of Sacramento’s lineup, working alongside De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton.

However, Hield faced several inconsistencies in his career. He found himself in and out of the starting lineup. Since the Kings acquired Davion Mitchell, a more youthful guard from Baylor, Hield’s future with the Kings remains unclear. With two years remaining on his contract, Hield now holds a tradable contract that might bring him to playoff contenders that need more help on the offensive end.

That said, NitroBetting takes a look at some of the destinations that could draw Buddy Hield’s services.

Three Best Trade Destinations for Buddy Hield

3. Memphis Grizzlies

This is an intriguing scenario for Buddy Hield, but worth the look nonetheless. Since Ja Morant’s current deal is still two years away from expiring, this could be a great opportunity for the Grizzlies to re-up and fortify their lineup. While Hield isn’t going to be a franchise player, he can add plenty of value to the table.

Kyle Anderson’s role was reduced last year and he would likely have more playing time with Sacramento. They can benefit from his defense, playmaking abilities, and solid decision-making on both ends of the court. Additionally, Jarrett Culver can also attract interest from the Kings as they look to add a young guard to fill Hield’s position.

Ultimately, Buddy Hield can accommodate a smoother rotation for Memphis. He can use his shooting prowess and his ability to make space for his teammates to a team that lacks in that area. The Grizzlies are +2500 to win the 2021-22 NBA Championship.

2. Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards had a stellar start to the 2021-22 season. But, they now begin to show their weaknesses. One of the issues they have is with depth. Bradley Beal can only offer so much to the team. Their relatively inferior three-point shooting numbers just won’t cut it against the frontrunners of the league. Buddy Hield provides better shooting depth if they want to add more threat on this side of their ball game. This introduces better playoff opportunities and helps players like Kyle Kuzma and Beal deliver from range. The Wizards are +10000 to win the 2021-22 NBA Championship.

It might be tricky to pull this trade after the Wizards acquired Davis Bertans for over $60 million. However, the Latvian forward is underperforming from deep this season and is proving to be a liability for Wes Unseld Jr. Trading Bertans together with Montrezl Harrell could make the scenario materialize.

Buddy Hield brings plenty of value to the Wizards because of his ability to shoot three-pointers. While his contract can be demanding for the team, making this move can benefit the Wizards in the long run.

1. Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks are one of the few teams held back by injuries. Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis already missed a handful of games in the first half of the season. Although they are well within the top five of the Western Conference division, there’s plenty of work to be done if they want to stay competitive until the postseason. The Mavs are +3300 to win the 2021-22 NBA Championship.

The team would benefit from a shooter since letting Seth Curry Go in the 2019-20 season. They can utilize a more consistent shooter from downtown. And with the addition of Reggio Bullock and Sterling Brown to the lineup, they might find more consistency if Hield adds to the mix.

Cap space is an issue for the team now. This trade can only happen if they let some of the players go. We may see Dwight Powell, Reggie Bullock, or Maxi Kleber part ways with the Mavs for the deal to push through.
