Boston is the fourth-best scoring team in the postseason thus far, averaging 112.7 points per game on 49.6 percent shooting from the field. What makes their numbers more impressive is that they’ve had to face the postseason favorites to win the NBA championship this season and are making it look easy in the process.

That Game 3 loss on Saturday is arguably one of the most disappoinding playoff defeats in recent memory for the Brooklyn Nets. They lost at home despite shooting over 50 percent from the floor and going 12-of-29 from the three-point line (41.4 percent), and the reason why they came up short is rather shocking.

When Brooklyn’s leading scorer in its postseason home opener is Bruce Brown (26 points), you know something’s not right with the team. The Nets’ one-two punch of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving scored just 16 points apiece, withIrving failing to make all seven of his shots from beyond the arc. Trasitional offense was certainly an issue, as Boston had 25 fast-break points to just nine for Brooklyn.

Needless to say, the Nets have history working against them, as no team in NBA history has been able to claw out of a 3-0 series hole. A win in Monday’s clash isn’t out of the picture for Brooklyn, though, especially with desperation now at its peak to give the team more urgency.
