George Pickens – Georgia (WR)
One one hand, the 2022 NFL Draft class is filled with outstanding wide receivers and offensive linemen. On the other hand, the Bears would need to trade up to get a more proven talent than the ones that will be left on the board in the second round. That being said, they could still leverage the risk that Georgia wideout George Pickens brings at the position. Pickens tore his ACL last season, but had a promising start as a freshman being a five-star high school recruit for some massive upside for his price.
Abraham Lucas – Washington State (OT)
Speaking of offensive linemen, Washington State’s Abraham Lucas is going to fly under most teams’ radars. Pass protection is this first-team All-Pac-12 selections calling card, having allowed not a single QB pressure against USC in each of the past two seasons. Lucas is as battle-hardened as they come after nearly playing 2,200 pass-blocking snaps in his four full seasons as a Cougar.
Jalen Pitre – Baylor (CB)
On defense, meanwhile, Chicago could also use a boost in the secondary. As such, cornerback Jalen Pitre is a likely available target in the second round. The consensus All-American selection was the lynchpin of Baylor’s defensive backfield with a team-high 47 defensive stops. Pitre operates best as a slot defender, which should make his transitions to the pros more manageable by not having to deal with the speedy NFL wideouts on the flanks immediately.
Updated Chicago Bears 2022 NFL Futures Odds
As of this writing, the Bears are longshots to win Super Bowl 57 at a price of +7,500, which is the third-worst odds in the NFL. They share the same distant SB LVII odds as another struggling-to-rebuild NFC franchise in the New York Giants, and with only four other teams having worse odds than them.
