Why Bet on the Clemson Tigers?
Although quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei struggled last season, he, no doubt, has the skills to be one of the top quarterbacks in the nation. Uiagalelei plays a second season behind an experienced offensive line.
The O-line returns 4 starters. That alone should allow Clemson’s offense to post significant points versus a bad Georgia Tech defense. Not only that, but Clemson goes three deep in the rushing attack.
Will Shipley, Kobe Pace, and Phil Mafah can all get it done. So if the offensive line plays better than it did last season, the Tigers should roll G-Tech’s D.
Swinney could send the best defense he’s ever had to the field. Everything for Clemson starts with the defensive front where players Myles Murphy, Xavier Thomas, Justin Mascoll, Brian Breese, Tyler Davis, and K.J. Henry have NFL starter level talent.
Also, linebacker Trenton Simpson returns for his junior season. Simpson recorded 64 total tackles, 12 tackles were for a loss, and six sacks in 2021.
Why Bet on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets?
Georgia Tech starting quarterback Jeff Sims is a three-year starter with wheels. When Sims plays his best, when his head is in the game, he can be one of the more electric players in the ACC.
But when Sims is off, he can make poor decision after poor decision. One thing in Sims favor is that right tackle Jordan Williams returns, starting left tackle Pierce Quick is a transfer from Alabama, and starting right guard Paul Tchio transferred from Clemson.
Those three offensive lineman should give Sims some time in this game. If the Yellow Jackets are creative on offense, there will moments when they can expose the back half of Clemson’s defense.
Three players will determine how well Georgia Tech’s defense plays against Clemson’s offense. Senior linebacker Charlie Thomas had 70 tackles, including 10 for a loss, and 3 sacks last season.
Linebacking mate Ayinde Eley produced 90 tackles last season. Safety Jaylon King is one of the better players in the conference at his position. If King, Eley, and Thomas have good games, who knows? Maybe, G-Tech contains Uiagalelei and the Tigers’ offense.
Clemson vs. Georgia Tech Betting Trends

- Under is 20-6 in Clemson’s last 26 games in September.
- Georgia Tech is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 conference games.
- Yellow Jackets are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games on grass.
- Over is 5-2 in Georgia Tech’s last 8 conference games.
Utah State vs. Alabama Expert Betting Predictions
On the surface, Clemson should rout the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech lost 8 of their top 11 tacklers from last season. But although Clemson should dominate, it’s difficult to have faith in the Tigers’ offense.
Yes, Clemson returns four players along the offensive line, but last season the line was terrible. Not only that, but Swinney lost defensive mastermind Brett Venables when the coordinator took the head coaching job at Oklahoma. Those two things could lead to an underwhelming Clemson performance.
With that being written, covering a 3 TD spread isn’t out of the question. Clemson figures to luck their way into at least 4 touchdowns because Georgia Tech’s defense is so bad.
The Tigers’ defense is one of the top in the nation, even if Venables won’t be on the sidelines calling the plays. Clemson scores at least 28 points and the Tigers’ D pitch a shutout.
