Why Bet on the Washington Commanders?
It was an ugly display of football in Week 3 for the Washington Commanders, who were easily drubbed by the soaring Philadelphia Eagles, 24-8. Washington has now lost two straight after picking up an encouraging Week 1 victory over the surprisingly competent Jacksonville Jaguars.
Carson Wentz would rather forget what had transpired this past weekend, as he was sacked a whopping nine times for a total loss of 58 yards. Wentz did end up padding his stat sheet with the game out of hand late, finishing with 211 passing yards on 25-of-43 passing. It was rather fortunate that Washington only committed one turnover (a Philly strip-sack, fumble recovery off of Wentz) after the team’s starting QB was harassed all game long.
The Commanders’ defense ranks in the bottom-third of the league as star defensive lineman Chase Young continues to recover from a season-ending ACL tear he suffered last season. On the bright side, they’ll face a Dallas side that is still without the services of their original starting QB. Then again, as we’ll get into below, the Cowboys are actually doing just fine without its offensive leader.
Why Bet on the Dallas Cowboys?
For the second straight week, the Dallas Cowboys come away with a gritty victory, this time with a huge 23-16 road win over the New York Giants in The Meadowlands. Dallas denied New York an unbeaten record through three weeks and, instead, are now both tied for second place in a surprisingly stacked NFC East with the 3-0 Philadelphia Eagles atop the standings.
Speaking of being undefeated, Cooper Rush did just that in his second start of the season filling in for injured star QB Dak Prescott. Rush connected with CeeDee Lamb on a glorious one-handed TD catch to give the Cowboys a late seven-point lead that they’d hang onto until the end of the contest. Dallas’ rushing game was at its peak as well, with Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard combining for 28 carries, 173 rushing yards, and one rushing TD from Zeke.
Above all else, the Cowboys’ defense came through in the clutch once more. They continued a streak of three games having allowed just one touchdown to the opposition to start the season. Stud defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence tied a career-high with three sacks of New York’s Daniel Jones, as America’s Team amassed five total sacks on the afternoon. Considering how Wentz’s day went in Week 3, expect Dallas’ D to contain the veteran play-caller rather well in their matchup ahead.
Commanders vs. Cowboys Betting Trends
- The Commanders are 3-5 in the last eight road games (3-4-1 ATS).
- The Commanders are 2-5 in the last seven meetings against Dallas (SU/ATS).
- The totals went over in four of the last six Washington games played on the road.
- The Cowboys are 2-4 in the last six home games (SU/ATS).
- The Cowboys have won seven consecutive games against their NFC East rivals (SU/ATS).
- The totals went under in each of the last four games played in AT&T Stadium.
Commanders vs. Cowboys Expert Betting Predictions
Seeing how the Cowboys have not performed well in front of their fans in Arlington of late, Washington could very well pull off a huge road upset when all is said and done. Then again, Dallas has dominated its division rivals dating back to the previous season, which should give the team a huge edge entering Week 4, especially with its defense playing lights out through the first three weeks.
