Commanders vs. Eagles 2022 NFL Week 10 Odds, Preview & Pick
The lone unbeaten team standing in the NFL remains the Philadelphia Eagles, but they are still huge long shots to complete the first 17-0 regular season in league history. The Eagles should get to 9-0 on Monday, though, as they are double-digit home favorites over Washington.
The Eagles look for the season sweep as the won 24-8 in Washington in Week 3. Philadelphia’s defense battered around former Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, picking up nine sacks on the day. Wentz had little time to operate and looked generally uncomfortable throughout the contest. He fumbled twice, losing one of them. Eagles edge rusher Brandon Graham led the team with 2.5 sacks, picking up a total of five quarterback hits. Fletcher Cox, Hasaan Reddick, and Josh Sweat also had 1.5 sacks each. Wentz ended the game 25-of-43 passing for 211 yards.

Why Bet on the Washington Commanders?
The Commanders didn’t score until the fourth quarter when defensive tackle Daron Payne tackled Philadelphia running back Boston Scott in the end zone for a safety. Washington’s first touchdown came late in the fourth quarter when running back Antonio Gibson scored from one yard out to make it 24-8. For the Eagles, DeVonta Smith caught eight passes for a career-high 169 yards and a touchdown. Jalen Hurts was 22 of 35 for 340 yards and three touchdown passes, one each to Smith, A.J. Brown and Dallas Goedert.
Washington had a three-game winning streak snapped last Sunday in 20-17 home loss to Minnesota, blowing a 17-7 fourth-quarter lead. Minnesota pulled out this win thanks to two touchdown passes by Kirk Cousins, Harrison Smith’s interception of Taylor Heinicke and a go-ahead 28-yard field goal by Greg Joseph with 12 seconds left. The Commanders cost themselves chance at a comeback when John Ridgeway was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after Joseph kicked a 22-yard, go-ahead field goal with 1:52 remaining. The Vikings took the points off the board and burned down the clock before Joseph’s 28-yard field goal with 12 seconds left. Washington QB Taylor Heinicke was 15-of-28 for 149 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
Washington’s defensive line has been a strength even though 2020 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Chase Young hasn’t played yet this season – he may return for this one. Jonathan Allen is third in the NFL through nine weeks in tackles for a loss (11). Daron Payne is right on Allen’s heels, only trailing by one with 10. Defensive end Montez Sweat has contributed 6 tackles for loss in these first 9 games of the season.
Payne leads the team with 5.5 QB sacks, with Allen second, with 4.5 sacks. Sweat is second only in QB hits (19) to the 49ers Nick Bosa (20). Payne has provided plenty of QB hits (13) coming from the inside. Allen continues to bring heat as well with 11 QB hits.
Why Bet on the Philadelphia Eagles?
The Eagles improved to 8-0 for the first time in franchise history with a 29-17 win in Houston in Week 9. The Eagles entered halftime without a lead for the first time this season with the game tied at 14, but they’d go on to outscore Houston 15-3 in the second half. It marked safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s fourth straight game with an interception. He now leads the NFL with five on the season. The Eagles are just the second NFL team since the 1970 merger to record 18+ takeaways and 3-or-fewer giveaways in the first 8 games of a season, joining the 1977 Baltimore Colts (19 takeaways, 3 giveaways).
Philadelphia QB Jalen Hurts — a Houston native — completed 21-of-27 passes for 234 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He has now won 11 straight starts dating to last season, tied with Peyton Manning (1999) and Dak Prescott (2016) for the third-longest streak by a QB under age 25 since 1990. Only Ben Roethlisberger (15) and Lamar Jackson (13) have longer such streaks.
Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert put together an exceptional performance catching eight of his nine targets for 100 yards, a touchdown and seven first down en route to a 90.0-plus receiving grade and a game-high 4.00 yards per route run on first review.
