Why Bet on the Dallas Cowboys?

It was another relatively disappointing season for the Dallas Cowboys, who failed to advance past the Divisional Round of the postseason for the 12th straight instance since winning their last Super Bowl in 1996. Dallas finished with back-to-back 12–5 records in the regular season last year, yet nothing changed the team’s fate of being knocked out before the NFC Conference Game.

Huge changes are underway in Arlington once more, most notably the departure of stud running back Ezekiel Elliott. Then again, The ‘Boys are happy with the progress that their former fourth-overall draft pick Tony Pollard, as the 26-year-old back out of Memphis earned a Pro Bowl nod last season with over 1,000 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. This gives star quarterback Dak Prescott some comfort in mind, as Dallas’ offense still has a strong running game to complement Dak and the receiving game with electric wideout CeeDee Lamb.

While the offense might have to get accustomed to life after Zeke, the Cowboys’ defense is still as frightening as ever. Last season, their D ranked fifth in points allowed per game (20.1 PPG), second in turnover differential (plus-10), and third in sacks (54). With a disruptive defensive unit featuring rising players such as Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs now joining forces with former DPOY cornerback Stephon Gilmore, Dallas yet again be a strong contender for the Lombardi this upcoming season.

Why Bet on the New York Giants?

The New York Giants have officially gone past their rebuilding phase and are now transitioning into their next era as perennial playoff contenders, thanks in large part to the renewed culture instilled by first-year head coach and Coach of the Year award winner Brian Daboll. Despite finishing with a relatively humble 9-7 record, New York made it to the postseason and even won its wild-card bout against the Vikings before losing to another AFC East rival in Philadelphia during the Divisional Round.

Even higher expectations are placed upon the G-Men’s top faces on offense. Quarterback Daniel Jones set new career bests in passing yards (3,205), completion percentage (67.2%), and picks thrown (just five) to go with other new highs in the rushing category (708 rushing yards and seven rushing TDs). Stud back Saquon Barkley also was named back to the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2018 after setting a new career high of 1,312 rushing yards to go with 10 trips to the end zone.

Although the offense has vastly improved, the same could not likely be said about the Giants’ defense, which is one of only eight teams with fewer than 20 turnovers generated last season. New York didn’t do much in free agency to improve this side of the ball other than signing former Indy linebacker Bobby Okereke, and this failure to improve a bottom-third defensive unit in 2022 might be the team’s undoing in the new campaign.

Cowboys vs. Giants Expert Betting Predictions

As feisty as the Giants have been since Daboll took over the head-coaching duties, it’s just too hard to ignore how the Cowboys have rolled them over time and again for the past half-decade. Chalk this up as a close road victory for Dallas, albeit with New York barely covering the spread and losing by way of a last-minute field goal by their NFC East nemesis.
