Why Bet on the Dallas Cowboys?
In Week 10’s showdown between two of the NFL’s most decorated franchises, the Dallas Cowboys came up short of an overtime road victory after losing to the Green Bay Packers, 31-28. That loss coupled with a Giants win drops Dallas to third place in the very crowded NFC East standings.
Head coach Mike McCarthy may have bitten off more than he can chew against his former team, as a questionable fourth-down decision in OT ultimately ended up being his team’s downfall for the Packers to hit a game-winning field goal. On the bright side, Dak Prescott threw for three touchdown passes (albeit with two interceptions as well), and running back Tony Pollard racked up 11 rushing yards and another score starting in place of injured starter Ezekiel Elliott.
Unfortunately, the Cowboys’ defense is starting to show some cracks, as they’ve given up an average of 20 points to their opponents these past couple of weeks. They’re still ranked fifth in the league in scoring defense (18.2 PAPG), though, but could be in for another reality check going up against a potent Minnesota offense on Sunday.
Why Bet on the Minnesota Vikings?
At the very least, the Minnesota Vikings can lay claim to being part of the best game of the 2022 NFL season and as the winners of that contest. Their 33-30 overtime win on the road over the Buffalo Bills, coupled with an Eagles loss this past week, puts them in a tie with Philly for the best record in the entire league to date.
Minnesota went toe-to-toe with Buffalo’s own prolific offense as the two sides amassed over 480 yards of offense apiece in Week 10. Kirk Cousins continues to deny his haters any satisfaction at failure as he and the Vikes just know how to win close games this season. Cousins threw for 357 yards to go with a touchdown pass and a pair of interceptions but was thankfully bailed out by another strong outing from electric running back Dalvin Cook (119 rushing yards, one TD).
Giving up a huge amount of points to the Bills should come as no surprise, but this was still a solid showing for Minny’s defense. The Vikings’ 18 turnovers this season rank second overall in the NFL and will need more timely takeaways to deny Dallas a victory this Sunday. Veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson picked off Buffalo’s Josh Allen twice this past week, including the game-sealing INT in overtime, to give Minnesota another key name on D for the Cowboys’ passing attack to worry about.
Cowboys vs. Vikings Betting Trends
- The Cowboys are 6-2 in the last eight road games (SU/ATS).
- The Cowboys are 5-2 in the last seven meetings against Minnesota since 2007 (3-4 ATS).
- The totals went over in four of Dallas’ last five games away from Jerryworld.
- The Vikings are on a five-game home win streak to date (3-2 ATS).
- The Vikes are just 1-4 in the last five outings as underdogs (SU/ATS).
- The totals went over in seven of Minny’s last eight home games.
Cowboys vs. Vikings Expert Betting Predictions
The current odds for this matchup would indicate the continued lack of confidence in the Vikings even with the home-field advantage. If Elliott isn’t able to play on Sunday to give the Cowboys more options on offense, then it’s more than likely that the Vikes will be able to outgun them in offensive production. Minny’s chances to win as home dogs despite having the better record to date is just too hard to pass up right now regardless of Dallas’ more encouraging results on a weekly basis.
