Dallas Cowboys 2022 NFL Draft Best First-Round Targets
Despite finishing as the NFC West champs, the Dallas Cowboys were knocked out of the playoffs early yet again this past season. Their offense did not live up to the high expectations mainly due to a mediocre offensive line. The Cowboys made a lot of in-house signings during free agency, but could still use some fresh new talent on both sides of the ball.
Nitrobetting is ready to equip its bettors with the latest news, futures odds, and special features for the duration of the 2022 NFL offseason. This time, let’s examine the best first-round prospects that the Dallas Cowboys may strongly consider picking up at the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft.
Top 2022 NFL Draft First-Round Picks for the Dallas Cowboys
Bernhard Raimann – Central Michigan (OT)
After recently handing Dak Prescott a massive contract, the Cowboys would do well to start building up Dak’s defenses in the O-line. They could trade up in the draft to get someone like top tackle prospect Evan Neal, but Central Michigan’s Bernhard Raimann would do just fine at this point in the draft. Raimann didn’t allow a single QB pressure in his last six starts and is widely considered as the second-best pass-protection tackle in this year’s class only behind Neal.
Trevor Penning – Northern Iowa (OT)
Having a different skill set at tackle, meanwhile, is UNI standout Trevor Penning. The 6-foot-7, 325-pound mammoth is a terrific run blocker, with PFF giving Penning a stellar 99.9 run-blocking grade. He has mainly faced teams from the FCS, though, but is still a solid pick up for his projected draft position with O-linemen coming at a premium this year.
David Ojabo – Michigan (EDGE)
The untapped potential of David Ojabo might make for a tasty proposition for Dallas as well. Ojabo had five forced fumbles in his final year in Michigan and also racked up 37 QB pressures in his last 10 starts, and he should serve as a superb pass-rushing substitute and pupil under the guidance of Dante Fowler Jr. and Dorance Armstrong. Randy Gregory’s departure in free agency further reinforces the need at edge for the Cowboys.
Updated Dallas Cowboys 2022 NFL Futures Odds
As of this writing, the Cowboys are priced at (+1,200) to win Super Bowl 57. They’re tied with the Denver Broncos with the sixth-best odds to capture the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LVII despite seeing the likes of Amari Cooper and the aforementioned Gregory finding new homes in free agency. Dallas remains the odds-on favorite to repeat as NFC East champions as well with a price of (-115).
