Why Bet on the Philadelphia Eagles?
The 1972 Dolphins can bring out the bubbly once more, as the Philadelphia Eagles lost their bid for an undefeated season when they suffered a Week 10 upset against the Washington Commanders, 32-21.
An 8-1 is usually enough of a cushion to be comfortable about one’s chances for a division title, but Philadelphia is just one game ahead of the Giants and just two games ahead of the Cowboys in the NFC East standings; the Commanders’ recent resurgence notwithstanding. Star quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a pair of touchdown passes in the loss, but it was Philly’s running attack that came out flat after putting up under 100 rushing yards against a suddenly stout Washington front seven.
It was the first time since Week 1 that the Eagles allowed an opponent to score more than 21 points in a contest. Thankfully, they’ll have a good chance at a bounce-back game against a one-dimensional, run-heavy Indianapolis offense. On the other hand, Philadelphia is only ranked 20th against the run, allowing an average of 124.8 rushing yards to opponents this season.
Why Bet on the Indianapolis Colts?
Are the Indianapolis Colts actually about to make a surprising run for a playoff spot? New head coach and former Indy offensive lineman Jeff Saturday defied all odds and came away with a 25-20 road victory over the Las Vegas Raiders last Sunday, 25-20. With a record of 4-5-1, it’s hard to believe that the Colts are just two games behind the Titans for the AFC South division lead.
Matt Ryan made his return under center after a rough couple of outings with backup QB Sam Ehlinger at the helm. Ryan completed all but seven of his 28 passing attempts in Week 10 and finished with 222 passing yards and his third TD pass to receiver Parris Campbell in as many starts. Stud running back Jonathan Taylor also rediscovered his mojo, running the ball 22 times for 147 rushing yards and a trip to the end zone.
Indianapolis’ defense is still refusing to fall apart. While the team is middle-of-the-pack in scoring defense, its average of 370 yards allowed per contest is still good enough for third overall in the league this season. However, the Colts don’t generate as many turnovers with just nine takeaways for the season to possibly turn the tides against Philadelphia’s versatile offense.
Eagles vs. Colts Betting Trends
- The Eagles have won six straight regular-season road games (2-4 ATS).
- The Eagles are also 5-0 in the last five outings against teams from the AFC (4-1 ATS).
- The totals went under in three of Philly’s last five road games.
- The Colts are 5-4 in the last nine home games (4-5 ATS).
- The Colts are 2-4 against teams from the NFC dating back to the previous season (3-3 ATS).
- The totals went under in five of the last six games played in Lucas Oil Stadium.
Eagles vs. Colts Expert Betting Predictions
Although the Colts are coming off a win and will have the home-field advantage in Week 11, we expect the Eagles to bounce back with a get-right game on the road. Indy hasn’t been as unbeatable at home, and Philly has been great going up against teams from the opposing conference of late. Then again, the current point spread will likely scare away potential Eagles backers, especially with the unpredictable Colts being a total wild card right now.
