Why Bet on the Atlanta Falcons?
A visit from the two-win Detroit Lions is just what the Atlanta Falcons ordered. Atlanta prevailed with a 20-16 home victory this past Sunday to remain one game behind the seventh and final wild card spot in the NFC along with the 7-8 Minnesota Vikings.
The Falcons will need plenty of help in the final two weeks of the season to make the playoffs, but they must first focus on arguably their stiffest competition from the AFC this year in Buffalo. Veteran quarterback Matt Ryan is still fighting hard despite his lacking arsenal, going 18-of-24 for 215 passing yards and a touchdown without a turnover. Sadly, the former regular-season MVP was once again not aided by his team’s ground game, which mustered up just 47 rushing yards on 18 carries.
Atlanta is 3-4 in its last seven games and has not gotten any consistency whatsoever. Even worse is that the Falcons’ three wins were against teams with losing records during this stretch. Meanwhile, all four of their losses have come against teams with winning records, with each of those superior sides winning easily by double-digits. This includes a 25-0 shutout to the Patriots in Week 11; the same Pats team that the Bills had just defeated this past weekend.
Why Bet on the Buffalo Bills?
The rematch between AFC East rivals the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots was as intense and entertaining as many had predicted. The Bills pull away with a 33-21 victory in Gillette Stadium not only to avenge their four-point loss to Bill Belichick’s gang in Week 13, but to also reclaim the top spot in the division standings.
Josh Allen played with more confidence against a stout New England defense this time around. Allen completed 30 of 47 passes for 314 yards and three passing TDs. He also led his team with 12 carries for 64 rushing yards, proving that he still has the chops to bring out his MVP-caliber form from the previous season when his team needed it most.
Now comes what could be a trap game for the Bills, who’ve already succumbed to a shocking upset earlier in the season against the dysfunctional Jaguars. Then again, their third-ranked scoring offense (28.5 PPG) should be no match for a Falcons defense surrendering an average of 26.7 points per game (tied for third-worst in the NFL).
Falcons vs. Bills Betting Trends
- The Falcons are, quite surprisingly, 5-2 in their last seven road games (SU/ATS).
- The Falcons are 6-3 in the last nine games against teams from the AFC (7-2 ATS).
- The totals went under in three of Atlanta’s last four road games.
- The Bills are actually just 4-3 at home this season (3-3-1 ATS).
- The Bills are 4-1 in the five games this season wherein they were favored to win by double digits (3-1-1 ATS).
- The totals went over in five of Buffalo’s last seven games in general.
Falcons vs. Bills Expert Betting Predictions
Buffalo’s chances of staying hot to close out the season are undeniably high. However, the Falcons are sneaky good on the road this season and their recent performances against teams from the opposing conference aren’t too shabby, either. That being said, Atlanta’s will to survive may just be enough for the team to cover the relatively wide spread that’s strongly in favor of the Bills.
