Florida State Seminoles

Because they play in the ACC, the Seminoles are likely to be the favorite in every game in which they play. The only game where FSU may not be the chalk is when they battle Notre Dame later in the season in South Bend.

FSU should win most of their games, but they will struggle to cover spreads versus traditional rivals like Georgia Tech and Boston College. New ACC squads like California and SMU are quality programs.

Michigan Wolverines

Michigan has a new head coach in Sherrone Moore and a new starting quarterback. Alex Orji is the favorite to win the starting QB job, but Moore hasn’t said Orji for sure is the starter.

That’s not a good sign for a Wolverines team that must host a tough Fresno State squad, take on USC, travel to Washington, and host Texas in four of their first 6 games. Oregon, Northwestern, and of course, Ohio State are also on the schedule. So is a sneaky tough road matchup versus Illinois on October 19th.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Irish are always overrated. This season, being overrated should bite Notre Dame. The Irish travel to Texas A&M in their first game, must play both Louisville and Florida State, travels to Purdue and USC and must throw down against an underrated Georgia Tech team.

Notre Dame will be decent. But they won’t be close to as good as many believe they are. Betting against the Irish to cover spreads should be a solid play in 2024.

Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma and rival Texas now play in the SEC. The Sooners must take on Tennessee, Auburn, Texas in the Red River Rivalry, travel to Missouri, which is a good team, travel to Ole Miss, which is good enough to win the National Championship, and host Alabama.

The Sooners could end up losing 5 games straight up and post a terrible cover record. Oklahoma has a difficult schedule for sure and, truth be told, may not have the roster to handle the teams in the Southeastern Conference.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama on a list of overrated teams? Yep. The offense should move the football, but we can’t look past the fact that Kalen DeBoer’s success happened at Washington, a former PAC-12 school.

The PAC-12 didn’t boast great defensive teams. Only Utah consistently fielded a great defense. DeBoer’s offense must tackle Georgia’s D, Tennessee’s D, and Missouri’s D. All three of those teams are College Football Playoff contenders.

When it comes to Bama’s defense, there will be much to discuss. Yes, Alabama appears to have the players, but DeBoer’s defenses at Wahington weren’t great. This should be an interesting season for Alabama, one where covering spreads will be difficult.
