Why Bet on the New York Giants?
For the third straight week, the New York Giants were on the losing end of a decision. The Giants lost to the rivaling Miami Dolphins in Week 5, 31-16, in a game that was not as close as what the final score would suggest. New York averaged less than five yards per play and their offense doesn’t look like it’s going to improve immediately.
Although Daniel Jones went turnover-free this past Sunday, he was sacked six more times by the Dolphins’ front seven as arguably the league’s worst offensive line failed to give Jones ample time to throw in the pocket. The return of sensational running back Saquon Barkley (knee injury) is penciled in for Week 6 right now, but is that enough to go blow-for-blow for the Bills?
New York’s defense isn’t anything to write home about, either. The Giants are one of only four teams to allow an average of over 30 points per game this season thus far (20.6 PAPG) and had only recently generated its first turnover of the season last week. That said, we’ll be shocked if this limited Giants D will be able to contain Buffalo’s offense to a reasonable degree on Sunday night.
Why Bet on the Buffalo Bills?
It was a neutral game to forget for the Buffalo Bills, who gave up a homestand this season to host a London game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6 and ultimately lost to those Jaguars in that international affair, 25-20. That loss knocks the Bills down to a 3-2 record and in second place in the AFC East division race – one spot behind the aforementioned Dolphins.
Although Josh Allen managed to rack up 359 passing yards and a pair of TD throws to each of his 100-yard receivers for the day (Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis), he did complete just 27 of 40 pass attempts and also threw an interception. Buffalo also gained just 29 rushing yards on 14 carries as a team, but at least its passing attack is still potent enough despite Allen’s relatively shaky play under center of late.
What’s more concerning for the Bills is that their top-five defense entering Week 5 had just given up 474 yards to a mediocre Jags offense. While the return of All-Pro veteran linebacker Von Miller to the lineup this past weekend is a welcome addition, they eventually lost Miller’s fellow stud linebacker Matt Milano to a season-ending leg injury as well, further adding to the pile of lost Buffalo defensive players in an otherwise superb stop unit.
Giants vs. Bills Betting Trends
- New York is 2-6 in the last eight road games (4-4 ATS).
- The Giants are 5-1 in its last six outings against AFC teams (SU/ATS).
- The totals went under in three of New York’s last four games on the road.
- Buffalo is 7-1 in the last eight home games (4-4 ATS), including the playoffs but not last week’s “home game” in London.
- The Bills are also 7-1 in its last eight contests versus teams from the NFC (4-3-1 ATS).
- The totals went over in five of the last six games played in Orchard Park.
Giants vs. Bills Expert Betting Predictions
Even though the Bills are reeling and cracks are starting to show up in their defense, we’ll still side with them to outright beat the Giants and cover the double-digit spread. New York virtually has no pass-protection skills and Buffalo will be more determined to bounce back from their crushing defeat in London that we see Allen going off for multiple TD plays against a porous G-Men defense.
