Is Tom Brady Coming Out of Retirement?
Tom Brady retired in February. Per the Terrific One, the retirement was a sure thing. However, Brady’s broadcast contract with Fox doesn’t start until 2024. So Tom has an entire season to sit on the couch, which is why so many of Brady’s fans are convinced he is going to return to the NFL this season. Is Tom Brady really coming out of retirement? Read our take.

Tom Brady is bored
Brady says he wants to take a year off from sports. But let’s be frank about the man and sports. Tom Brady doesn’t know much else other than sports.
At least in 2024 when he’s an analyst he’ll be involved in sports. But this season, what is he going to do? We’re talking about a bored over half a billionaire who hasn’t bought a super yacht to travel around with his girlfriend ala Jeff Bezos.
Tampa could get something by Tom unretiring and then trading him
The Buccaneers may want the GOAT to unretire. No doubt, Tampa is going to start Baker Mayfield this season. Mayfield is a legit starter in the league.
So Tampa doesn’t want Tom to return to start him under center. Tampa May want Tom to return, so they can field offers for his services. The Bucs could get a decent draft pick depending on the team that bites in a trade.
Two teams, the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts could use Tom’s services until their starters are ready
The Arizona Cardinals must start Colt McCoy while Kyler Murray rehabs his injury. Arizona might want Tom under center for at least an attempt at the playoffs.
The Colts could use Tom as well. The Colts are in win now mode, but likely starter Anthony Richardson requires at least a season to be NFL quarterback starter ready. Brady could be the bridge QB.
Three reasons Brady won’t come out of retirement
His skills have diminished big time
Brady wasn’t up to his usual standards last season. A lot of that had to do with Tampa’s suspect offensive line.
Still, Tom didn’t have it. We didn’t see the usual electrifying quarterback play we’ve come to expect from Terrific Tom. Brady is a proud individual. So if he doesn’t believe he can get it done, he won’t return to the field.
There’s no guarantee he would start
Even if Brady ended up in Arizona or Indianapolis, there’s no guarantee he’d get the start because those teams might decide to use Tom as a mentor for their current starters.
If Brady ended up anywhere else, playing time would be an issue. Most of the teams in the league are set at quarterback.
He’d miss his kids
The first thing Brady mentioned after retiring was how he missed so much of his children’s early years. Brady wants to be a good father. That means spending time with the kids.
Bottom Line: Will Tom Brady come out of retirement?
Although it’s fun to speculate, Tom Brady is not coming out of retirement. The greatest quarterback to every play in the NFL is serious when he says he’s taking the year away from sports.
Brady realizes how much time he has to make up when it comes to his children. So we should expect him to stick to what he says he’s doing, which is taking the year away from sports to refresh before joining the FOX broadcast booth. No, the GOAT will remain retired.
