Why Bet on the Jacksonville Jaguars?
With their first win of the season in the bag and right before their scheduled bye, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be coming out pumped and re-energized for their Week 8 road trip to Seattle. Although the Jaguars barely escaped with a 23-20 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 6, they’ll take any victory they could considering the tumultuous maiden campaign (for multiple reasons) of first-year head coach Urban Meyer.
Trevor Lawrence had the best game of his young NFL career during that win, throwing for over 300 passing yards for the first time. While the first-overall pick from this year’s NFL draft also didn’t throw an interception in a game for just the second time this season, Lawrence did also lose a fumble to put the Jags on the brink of another letdown.
Jacksonville has to realize that its offense should revolve around running back James Robinson and not Lawrence. Robinson found the end zone for the fourth-straight week, finishing with 73 rushing yards to go with his TD run. On the other hand, fixing the Jaguars’ bottom-10 defense is another issue that Meyer’s squad has to resolve.
Why Bet on the Seattle Seahawks?
Another week with Geno Smith under center, another tight loss for the Seattle Seahawks, who’ve dropped their second straight game with Smith at quarterback and their third consecutive defeat overall.
Smith has not looked good in place of injured Russell Wilson (finger). The eight-year veteran was held inept through the air, going just 12 of 22 for 167 passing yards and a single passing TD during Seattle’s 13-10 Week 7 loss to the New Orleans Saints. That’s the second straight game that the Seahawks have lost by a mere field goal following the heartbreaking overtime loss in Pittsburgh the week prior.
Seattle’s defense, which is second-worst in the NFL with an average of over 414 yards allowed to their opponents this season, had one of its better outings of the year. The D held the Saints offense to just 304 yards, which is a good sign for the once-vaunted Legion of Boom unit facing a revitalized Jaguars side ready to pull some of Meyer’s unorthodox tricks.
Jaguars vs. Seahawks Betting Trends
- The Jaguars are winless in the last 11 road games (5-6 ATS).
- The Jags are also 0-12 in the most recent encounters with teams from the NFC (2-10 ATS).
- The totals went under in four of Jacksonville’s last five games in general.
- The Seahawks are on a four-game home losing streak (1-3 ATS).
- The Seahawks are just 1-3 in the last four games wherein they were favored to win (SU/ATS).
- The totals went under in four of the last six games played in Seattle.
Jaguars vs. Seahawks Expert Betting Predictions
Without the star power of Russell Wilson, this Week 8 matchup isn’t expected to put up a ton of points on the board and the trends would agree with that notion. In terms of the eventual winner of this contest, though, the road-dog Jags should really get a bit more love from bettors this week after entering their bye week on a high note and with the Seahawks still ailing without their best player on the roster.
