Why Bet on the New York Jets?
Thanks to grit and a bit of luck, the New York Jets finally got their first win of the season with the 27-24 overtime victory at home over the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. New York secured a 22-yard field goal in the extra period and was fortunate to see Tennessee kicker Randy Bullock’s potential game-tying 49-yard attempt go wide left to seal the unlikely upset of the reigning AFC South champs.
Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson had his best showing in the pros, going 21-of-34 for 297 passing yards, two touchdowns, and just one interception. Meanwhile, former Titans wideout Corey Davis got a bit of revenge against his old team by hauling in four of seven targets for 111 receiving yards and a trip to the end zone.
Wilson’s rapport with Davis continues to develop for the better, which is a good sign heading into Saturday’s game from across the pond. The Jets’ defense still needs a lot of work, though, as they have just one takeaway and have allowed an average of 25 points to their opponents over their last three games.
Why Bet on the Atlanta Falcons?
The Atlanta Falcons failed to capitalize from their nail-biting win in Week 3 by barely losing at home to the Washington Football Team in Week 4, 34-30. Atlanta should hold its head up high in defeat, though, as that four-point loss was still a better performance than their first two blowout losses to start the 2021 season.
Matt Ryan’s four-touchdown, pick-free performance was still not enough for the Falcons to get back to the .500 mark. Ryan completed just 25 of his 42 pass attempts against Washington for 283 air yards, as his rapport with veteran jack-of-all-trades Cordarrelle Patterson continues to strengthen. Patterson was on the receiving end of three of Ryan’s four TD passes opposite of star wideout Calvin Ridley, who finished with team-highs of 13 targets and seven catches for 80 receiving yards.
Unfortunately, the Falcons’ defense has allowed four or more touchdowns to opposing teams in each of their three losses this season; something they must prevent from happening against an inexperienced and shaky Jets QB this Saturday.
Jets vs. Falcons Betting Trends
- The Jets are 1-9 in their last 10 road games (2-8 ATS).
- The Jets are 1-4 in their last five meetings against teams from the NFC (SU/ATS).
- The totals have gone under in all four of New York’s most recent games against NFC opponents.
- The Falcons are just 1-5 in their last six games wherein they were favored to win (SU/ATS).
- The Falcons are 3-2 in their last five matchups against AFC teams (4-1 ATS).
- The totals have gone under in four of those five Atlanta games against teams from the opposing conference.
Jets vs. Falcons Expert Betting Predictions
This battle between 1-3 teams is as close as it gets. Although the Jets have more momentum thanks to their win this past weekend, it’s the Falcons who’ve been more consistent on offense of late. That being said, bettors would be wise to consider placing stakes on the over/under as well. Do note that the two teams will be playing in Europe on a short week and that the trends stated above have also shown that the point totals have favored the under for both sides.
