Will Sin City’s Davante-garde Bet Pay Off?
First off, Las Vegas’ starting quarterback Derek Carr does deserve some recognition as a viable MVP candidate this season. Carr is currently a (+3,300) sleeper pick to win the award with odds ranking him within the top 15 QBs of the league. The eight-year veteran gunslinger threw for 4,804 passing yards last season (a new career-high) and carried the Silver and Black to their first playoff appearance since 2016.
On the other hand, a more intriguing dark horse player out of the Raiders’ camp is stud wideout Davante Adams, who comes over from Green Bay to bolster Vegas’ receiving corps. Adams is currently a (+8,000) sleeper pick to win the 2022 NFL MVP hardware after he set new career-bests of 123 catches and 1,553 receiving yards to go with 11 receiving TDs in his final season in Lambeau.
Tight end Darren Waller may also be in the running for the individual accolade if Adams gets off to a slow start under a new offensive scheme, especially given the relative downgrade from Aaron Rodgers to Derek Carr. Waller saw his own streak of back-to-back 1,100-yard receiving campaigns come to an end, though, as he missed five regular-season games in 2021 due to injury and finished with just 55 receptions for 665 yards and a pair of trips to the end zone.
Updated Raiders’ Super Bowl 57 Odds
As of this writing, the Raiders are +3,545 sleepers to win Super Bowl LVII. They are decently priced at +600 to win the division title as well. However, those division race odds are the worst out of the bunch considering how stacked the AFC West is, with the Kansas City Chiefs (+160), Los Angeles Chargers (+240), and Denver Broncos (+250) each being formidable teams also vying for division supremacy.
