Why Bet on the Maryland Terrapins?

After a strong start into the season, the Terrapins had their winning streak broken in Week 5 after a defeat at the hands of the Iowa Hawkeyes, 51-14. It was an underwhelming performance for the team, giving up 33 points in the first half of the game and another 17 points before the final whistle.

Nonetheless, there are several takeaways from the game. Taulia Tagovailoa managed to find 157 yards on 16-of-29 passing, including 2 touchdowns and a team-high 5 interceptions. Reece Udinski also logged playing time and recorded 17 yards and an interception on 5-of 8-passing. On the receiving end, Dontay Demus led his team with 61 yards and 4 receptions, while Chigoziem Okonkwo and Rakin Jarrett produced 1 touchdown each after a combined 34 yards and 7 receptions.

In the 97 total rushing yards the Terrapins ran that night, Tagovailoa was responsible for 24 of them on 4 carries. The trio of Colby McDonald, Isaiah Jacobs, and Tayon Fleet-Davis achieved no less than 20 yards each and put together a total of 65 rushing yards.

Analyzing the defense, Ami Finau and Ruben Hyppolite II took over the unit after recording 5 solo tackles each. Jordan Mosley closely followed the two with 6 tackles (4 solo), while Sam Okuayinonu managed to get a sack and 2 solo tackles before ending his shift.

The Terrapins face a handful of injury issues and recently lost Dontay Demus Jr. to a knee injury that leaves him out for the season. Meanwhile, Deonte Banks and Fa’Najay Gotay remain out indefinitely since suffering a shoulder and upper-body injury, respectively, in September.

Why Bet on the Ohio State Buckeyes?

Since their second game loss to the Oregon Ducks in Week 2, the Buckeyes did well to recover and collect three straight wins. In the process, they managed to overcome Tulsa, Akron, and Rutgers, scoring no less than 41 points in each game.

The Buckeyes’ recent outing features a Week 5 win against Rutgers, 52-13. They managed to score 45 points in the first half, enough for them to relax in the final two quarters.

C.J. Stroud had an incredible game for his team, recording 330 yards and 5 touchdowns on 17-of-23 passing. He orchestrated the offense very well and had Chris Olave as his number one target of the night. The wide receiver had a team-high 119 yards and 2 touchdowns on 5 receptions.

Ohio State showed effective rushing plays and finished with 208 yards. TreVeyon Henderson got hold of a touchdown after 71 yards and 8 carries, and the duo of Marcus Crowley and Master Teague produced 110 rushing yards on a combined 18 carries.

Ronnie Hickman took care of the defense and documented 12 tackles (7 solo). The unit forced the Rutgers Scarlet Knights to 3 turnovers thanks to Tommy Eichenberg, Ryan Watts, and Denzel Burke, who each had an interception to their name. Overall, it was a productive night for both sides, but we expect the defensive end to put more on the table as they try to edge Maryland.

As for the lineup this weekend, Ohio has to deal with injuries that bring changes to the lineup. Safety Jantzen Dunn is the latest to suffer an undisclosed injury this week, followed by cornerback Cameron Brown and running back TreVeyon Henderson. These alone put a dent on the Buckeyes’ offense, but Harry Miller and Palaie Gaoteote affect the team’s depth as well. Chris Holtmann needs to form a balanced lineup on Saturday, but we have no doubts that the head coach will keep his side competitive.

Maryland vs. Ohio State Expert Betting Predictions

Looking at the injuries alone, it might look like Ohio is in trouble here. However, with a larger talent pool and consistency on their side, they enter the game with an obvious edge. Pair that with home-field advantage, and we are likely to see the team come out on top. On the other hand, the Maryland Terrapins have a shot at covering the spread if they can produce another 30-plus point game. Although a win will be tough for them, we expect a team eager to bounce back from a loss.
