Miami vs. FSU 2021 College Football Week 11 Odds, Preview & Pick
Once one of the best rivalries in college football, Miami vs. Florida State is no longer even the best rivalry in the ACC. However, the games are usually entertaining as the rivals meet from Tallahassee on Saturday with the Hurricanes as short favorites. This was college football’s best rivalry in the late 1980s through the 1990s, but now both are unranked and struggling. Miami (5-4) still has an outside shot to win the ACC’s Coastal Division and would get bowl eligible with a win. Florida State (3-6) would have to win out to get bowl eligible.

Why Bet on the Miami Hurricanes?
The Hurricanes carry a 35-30 all-time series lead into Saturday, including a 16-10 lead in games played in Tallahassee. UM won its fourth straight in the series last year, 52-10. D’Eriq King threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns but he’s out this season injured. Miami scored touchdowns on its five possessions and built a 35-point lead at halftime. The margin of victory was the largest for Miami in the series since a 47-0 rout in 1976, the first season of Bobby Bowden’s 34-year coaching career at Florida State. The Seminoles were without head coach Mike Norvell, who tested positive for coronavirus.
The Canes have saved their season with three straight close wins. It was 33-30 over Georgia Tech last week. UM’s Charleston Rambo hauled in seven passes for 210 yards, the second-most receiving yardage in school history — trailing Eddie Brown’s 220-yard mark against Boston College on Nov. 23, 1984. Rambo’s fourth 100-yard performances are the most in a season by a Hurricane since Ahmmon Richards in 2016.
Freshman QB Tyler Van Dyke completed 22 of his 34 attempts, tallying 389 yards and three touchdowns. Van Dyke led the first two fourth-quarter drives to get a field goal and go-ahead touchdown to seal the game. Van Dyke, who has totaled 1,240 yards and 10 touchdowns over his last three games, is the first Miami quarterback to throw for more than 325 yards in three straight starts since Miami legend Bernie Kosar did it in 1984.
Jaylan Knighton had the first 100-yard rushing game of his career, rushing for 162 yards on a career-high 32 carries. He got a lot of work because Miami lost starting running back Cam’Ron Harris for the rest of the season to injury in the game prior. UM also is missing starting OL Corey Gaynor and Jalen Rivers for the year.
Why Bet on the FSU Seminoles?
Florida State lost its second in a row last week, 28-14 at home to NC State. The Seminoles limited the Wolfpack to 14 points and just 41 yards rushing in the second half but could not overcome a 14-0 halftime deficit. Quarterback McKenzie Milton completed 22-of-44 passes for 233 yards and one touchdown in his first start since September 25. It’s not clear if Milton will start again this week as freshman QB Jordan Travis returned to practice this week. He missed the NC State game due to a non-COVID illness.
The Seminoles have converted 19 consecutive red zone trips for a total of 119 points, the 5th-longest active streak in the country and the program’s longest red zone scoring streak since converting 31 straight across the 2016 and 2017 seasons. FSU ranks 1st in the ACC and 6th in the country with a 75.9 red zone touchdown percentage this season (22-of-29).
