Charles Cross – Mississippi State (OT)
Having the fifth-overall pick means New York has its pick of the litter of the elite offensive linemen in this year’s draft. One particular standout pass-blocker is Charles Cross, who should provide Daniel Jones much help from his fumblitis syndrome. In his final year in Mississippi State, Cross allowed just 16 QB pressures on 719 pass-blocking snaps (2.22 percent).
Ikem Ekwonu – North Carolina State (OT)
Should the Giants wish to focus their offense back on Saquon Barkley and the running game, they could bypass Cross in favor of NC State’s Ikem Ekwonu instead. The unanimous All-American selection had 18 big-time blocks in 2021, which is seven more than the next best offensive lineman from the Power Five conferences in this year’s class. Ekwonu and Cross have opposing skill sets, making this a pivotal crossroads that the G-Men have to mull over.
Derek Stingley Jr. – LSU (CB)
Although help in the offensive trenches should be the Giants’ top priority, they could still use a boost on defense and pick up LSU’s Derek Stingley Jr. should he not be taken off the board yet somehow. Stingley, who won a national title in his rookie season in 2019, has allowed just a 41.1 completion percentage against opposing QBs throughout his outstanding three-year career in The Bayou.
