C Chet Holmgren – Gonzaga

With many experts believing that the Orlando Magic will select Auburn’s Jabari Smith with the first-overall pick, the Thunder are expected to pick seven-foot center Chet Holmgren with the second-overall pick shortly after. Holmgren was impressive to say the least in his lone season in Gonzaga. Holmgren, who averaged 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game with the Zags, has drawn tons of comparisons to Dirk Nowitzki with his phenomenal range and massive wingspan.

PF Paolo Banchero – Duke

The jury is still out on OKC power forward Darius Bazley, which means that the team might be inclined to take an upgrade at power forward instead. That being said, ACC Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero would be a solid pick-up for the Thunder should they decide to move on from Bazley at the starting role. Banchero, who averaged 17.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in Mike Krzyzewski’s final season in Duke, is a low-risk acquisition who has team captain written all over him and with terrific awareness on both sides of the ball at that.

PF Keegan Murray – Iowa

Unlike the two freshmen standouts before him on this list, Keegan Murray spent one more season in university and became a dominant force for Hawkeyes. Although relatively up there in age, the 22-year-old power forward has the highest upside amongst this year’s class to make an immediate impact in his maiden NBA campaign. Murray won the 2022 Karl Malone Award and was a consensus first-team All-American selection after averaging a 23.5 points and 8.7 boards along with an astounding 55.4-percent shooting clip from the field in his sophomore season in Iowa.
