Why Bet on the Oregon Ducks?
Oregon has an advantage on offense in the Alamo Bowl because their top running back and starting quarterback during the season will both play. Running back Travis Dye rushed for 1,118 yards and 15 touchdowns. Anthony Brown threw for 2,692 yards and 16 touchdowns. Dye and Brown are the main reasons Oregon averaged 418 total yards and 31.4 points per game.
Not only should Brown and Dye play, but the top-ranked overall player for the 2022 NFL Draft might also step onto the field. Defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux had 35 solo tackles and 7 sacks this season.
Thibodeaux is unstoppable to block with a single player. He should wreak havoc on Oklahoma’s offense if he plays. Overall, Oregon’s defense allowed just 370.5 total yards per game and an average of 25.5 points each contest.
Why Bet on the Oklahoma Sooners?
By the end of the regular season, the Oklahoma Sooners had developed into one of the highest-scoring teams in college football. Behind the play of freshman quarterback Caleb Williams, the Sooners were averaging 38.4 points from 442.1 total yards. Williams should play in this game, which means we can expect Oklahoma to move the football versus Oregon’s defense. Also, the Sooners are careful with the ball. Oklahoma has committed just 4 turnovers this season.
Oklahoma’s defense played well this season. Although the stats imply the Sooners had a rough time, 381.9 yards and over 25 points allowed per game, Oklahoma plays in the offensive-minded Big 12. Most Big 12 teams field high-scoring offenses. Isaiah Thomas recorded 7 sacks and safety Dellarin Turner-Yell had 3 picks.
The Sooners’ defense should be particularly effective in this because players will want to impress incoming head coach Brett Venables, a defensive mastermind from Clemson.

- Over is 14-3 in Oklahoma’s last 17 games following a straight-up loss.
Oregon vs. Oklahoma Expert Betting Predictions
Oklahoma played the Baylor Bears and Oklahoma State Cowboys tough. The Sooners just weren’t good enough to beat either team. So although Lincoln Riley bolted to USC, we shouldn’t expect the Sooners to come out flat. Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams will be a Heisman Trophy contender next season and, so far, Oklahoma has mostly lost recruits.
Williams should dominate an Oregon defense reeling after their head coach took off to Miami. The Ducks weren’t playing well to end the season, losing twice to Utah via blowout scores. The bottom line in this is that Oklahoma got the more high-profile coach in Venables, and the much better quarterback in Williams.
Don’t be surprised if a day or so before this game kicks off, Thibodeaux decides to forego playing so he can be ready for the NFL Draft. The line will change, so jump on the Sooners sooner rather than later, just in case Thibodeaux announces he isn’t playing.
