Why Bet on the New England Patriots?

Just when the New England Patriots started to roll, they stumble in Week 7 with a 38-15 upset in Foxborough against the Chicago Bears to snap their brief two-game win streak. That loss came as a shock to most, as the Bears were on a three-game skid before that contest.

A quarterback controversy is still brewing in New England, as neither Mac Jones nor Bailey Zappe looked good under center this past week. The two young gunslingers combined to throw for under 200 passing yards, along with three interceptions; two of them committed by Zappe. The Pats’ supposedly strong running game was held to just 70 rushing yards, and this ultimately led to a poor offensive performance against an inspired Chicago defense.

The Pats’ opportunistic defense that’s tied for the second-most forced turnovers this season (13) should keep things interesting in Week 8. The Jets have a top-10 rushing defense to counter, though, which means New England’s passing game has got to improve in order to extend the team’s current win streak against the Jets to 13 games.

Why Bet on the New York Jets?

Football is back in the Big Apple, as both the Giants and Jets of New York are both three games over .500 or better as we speak. The Jets are on a four-game win streak following Week 7’s 16-9 win over the ailing Denver Broncos, and are impressively just one game behind the Buffalo Bills for the division lead.

Zach Wilson and Co. are playing smart offense right now, as the second-year quarterback out of BYU hasn’t needed to take matters into his own hands through his team’s passing game. Wilson finished with just 121 passing yards on 26 pass attempts as New York’s rushing attack did fine on its own, amassing 155 rushing yards as a whole. Unfortunately, stud rookie running back Breece Hall (72 rushing yards, the team’s lone TD in Week 7) will have to miss the rest of the season due to a serious knee injury he suffered in the win over the Broncos.

Head coach Robert Saleh’s bread and butter, his team’s defense, has lived up to its billing of late to put the offense at ease. During their current four-game win streak, the Jets have allowed just an average of 14 points per game to their opponents. New England’s offense is in a funk right now, and the Jets will likely take advantage of this fact in order to finally break their losing curse against those darned Pats.

Patriots vs. Jets Expert Betting Predictions

Given the history between these two teams, it’s understood why the Patriots are slight favorites despite being on the road for this latest AFC East battle. Then again, the Jets are playing way better football right now and should not be afraid of Bill Belichick’s squad anymore, especially with the QB position being a sore spot in New England until now. Chalk this up as a straight-up victory for Gang Green.
