Pittsburgh Steelers 2023 NFL Season Betting Guide

By Hank Blaine

Few franchises are as consistent as the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers may have a bad season, but Pittsburgh never stays down for long. This season, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers are flying under the radar. That could be a mistake because Pittsburgh appears poised to challenge the Browns, Ravens, and even Bengals for the AFC North Division title. Pittsburgh Steelers 2023 Straight-Up Overview

The Steelers went a decent 9-8 last season, which isn’t bad considering it was quarterback Kenny Pickett’s first in the NFL. The rookie played well for a year one starter, throwing for 2,404 yards and 7 TDs to 9 interceptions.

We should expect Pickett to improve big time in his second season. Pickett is a good rusher. He averaged 4.3 yards per carry last season.

Kenny will rush for more yards in 2023 due to the Steelers going out and grabbing unrestricted free agent left guard Isaac Seaumalo from the Philadelphia Eagles. Seaumalo will also open holes for Najee Harris, one of the most underrated running backs in the NFL.

First round pick Broderick Jones from Georgia should move right into the starting left tackle position. If Tomlin feels Jones can start right away, we must have faith he’s ready.

Wide receiver Allen Robinson II will help Pickett’s development. Robinson II remains a steady WR and will take pressure off of the other starters, George Pickens, and burgeoning star Diontae Johnson.

Tomlin is a defense first coach. So we should expect a return to the Steel Curtain days. Three unrestricted free agents join the secondary to play with excellent Minkah Fitzpatrick. Patrick Peterson will play nickel back. Domantae Kazee starts at strong safety and Levi Wallace comes over from Buffalo to play left corner.

Joey Porter Jr., a Penn State rookie, gets the start at right corner. If the secondary comes together, the Pittsburgh defense will be solid because there’s nobody better than edge rusher T.J. Watt. The Pittsburgh Steelers will improve from last season. Tomlin will coach the Steelers to at least 2 victories. Pittsburgh goes from 9-8 to 10-7.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2023 SU Record Prediction: 10-7

Pittsburgh Steelers 2023 Against the Spread Overview

The Steeler had a good season against the spread. Pittsburgh went a terrific 10-6-1 ATS. For sure, the Steelers could repeat the effort.

However, oddsmakers usually adjust. So instead of 10-6-1, the Steelers are likely to show a game difference and go 9-8 versus the spread line.

Pittsburgh Steelers ATS Record Prediction: 9-8

Pittsburgh Steelers 2023 Over/Under Overview

The over to under record in Steelers games last season went 7-10. The Steelers offense should be more effective.

Usually, that’s a sign oddsmakers will adjust, but in this case, it will be difficult to do so because the Bengals, Ravens, and Browns, Pittsburgh’s AFC North division rivals, also have great offenses.

Instead of 7-10, the over under reverses and goes 10-7. Too many high scoring teams dot Pittsburgh’s schedule.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2023 Over/Under Record Prediction: 10-7
