When the Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers clash on Saturday night, both teams will be looking to keep their dimming playoff hopes alive. The two AFC squads won their last games. The Raiders beat the Patriots on the last play of the game. The Steelers handled the Carolina Panthers no problem. Pittsburgh is the favorite because this happens in their stadium. Will Derek Carr and the Raiders get it done as the slight less than 3-point underdog? Or will the Steelers win their fourth game in their last five?

Why Bet on the Las Vegas Raiders?
Las Vegas’ offense ranks eleventh in both yards per game, 358.1, and points per 24.1. Quarterback Derek Carr is one of the reasons the offense has won 4 of their last 5.
Carr threw 3 TDs in the win over the Patriots. Derek has played much better football because Josh Jacobs has made a case for the the “best running back in the NFL” title.
In Josh McDaniel’s system, Jacobs has excelled. Josh has rushed for 1,495 yards, a 5.1 per carry average, and has rushed for 11 touchdowns.
Las Vegas allows 24.1 points each game, the same amount the offense scores each contest. But although the Raiders allow over 20 points per, we shouldn’t let that cloud our opinion of the great Maxx Crosby.
The Raiders’ defensive end is a beast. Crosby has 11.5 sacks this season. He’s a disruptor on the level of a JJ Watt or Khalil Mack. Vegas allows 361.6 yards each contest. If opponents can block Crosby, they can have success in the passing game and rushing attacks.
Why Bet on the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Early in the season, Pittsburgh’s offense struggled. But lately, it has performed well. The Steelers head into this game after their best performance of the season.
Facing a decent Carolina Panthers’ D, the offense excelled, scoring 24 points. The offense finally got the rushing attack going, running for 156 yards.
Mitch Trubisky played for the injured Kenny Pickett. Mitch didn’t throw a pick, which is pretty much the best thing we can say about his performance. Pickett should be ready to go on Saturday, which means the Steeler will call more pass plays. The Steel Curtain is back. Earlier in the season, Pittsburgh struggled against teams with decent offenses. Not so in the past few weeks.
Pittsburgh gave up just 16 points to Indianapolis, 16 to Atlanta, 16 to Baltimore, and 16 to Carolina. The Steelers’ D was especially stingy against Carolina’s strong rushing attack, holding the Panthers to 61 yards on 21 carries.

- Under is 4-1 in the Raiders’ last 5 on the road.
- Steelers are 4-0 ATS versus a team with a winning record.
- Pittsburgh is 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 games following an ATS win.
- Under is 5-1 in the Steelers’ last 6 games following a straight-up win.
Raiders vs. Steelers Expert Betting Predictions
Neither of the teams shows strong trends, which makes handicapping this game tough. Also, both teams provide reasons to back them.
The Raiders have a decent offense. The Steelers have a great defense. But although both teams show enough to warrant a play, we have to lay the points on Pittsburgh.
The reason? The Steelers’ have proven they can shut down a top rushing attack. If you stop Josh Jacobs, you can tee off on Derek Carr because the Raiders’ offensive line doesn’t pass block well.
Pittsburgh is starting to become the team Mike Tomlin envisioned when drafting Kenny Pickett, a top rushing attack with vertical passing and a strong defense. TJ Watt will put Carr on his back at least 3 times in this game. The Steelers win and cover.
