The Texas Rangers escaped the AL Wild Card round with relative ease, while the Orioles are coming in strong with a 101-win campaign and their first division title in nearly a decade.

Why bet on the Texas Rangers?

With a clean sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL Wild Card round, the Texas Rangers have terrific momentum to make their postseason return a memorable one. As the team with the best record in the American League during the regular season, the top-seeded Baltimore Orioles will have the home-field advantage until they eventually reach the World Series. Baltimore will be sending Kyle Bradish (12-7, 2.83 ERA) to the mound as the team’s starter for Saturday’s series opener against the Rangers. Bradish has been one of the AL’s best pitchers in the second half, with the rookie out of New Mexico State holding opposing teams to two runs or fewer in nine of his last 10 starts; the last three being shutout efforts against the Astros, Nationals, and Red Sox (16 combined innings).

With no recent playoff history for both teams, it’ll be a virtual toss-up as to who’ll take Game 1 this weekend. The Rangers do have momentum coming from their impressive ALWC series victory, but the Orioles will have a more reliable starting pitcher in Bradish to cover their bases. We’ll have to go with the O’s to take the first game of the series on Saturday only because Camden Yards will be rockin’ considering that it’s felt like ages since the O’s have been in the postseason mix.
