Saints vs. Packers 2023 NFL Week 3 Odds, Preview & Pick
The New Orleans Saints begin their new campaign with wins in each of their first two games, while the Green Bay Packers were also close to going 2-0 if not for a loss to another NFC South opponent last week. Can the Saints stay hot, or will the Packers make the most out of their first home start of the season and reclaim a winning record?

Why Bet on the New Orleans Saints?
It didn’t look pretty like last week, but the New Orleans Saints pulled away with a 20-17 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. It wasn’t until late in the fourth quarter when the Saints got a two-possession lead over the rebuilding Panthers, and even then they allowed a late touchdown to Carolina with under one minute left in the contest.
Thankfully, New Orleans recovered the onside kick in that strange Monday Night Football divisional showdown to hang on for the win and stay undefeated. Derek Carr didn’t have the best time under center, throwing one interception and just 228 yards on 21-of-36 passing. The Saints have even more problems on offense, as starting running back Jamaal Williams got injured and Alvin Kamara won’t be back from his suspension until Week 4.
On the bright side, New Orleans’ defense refuses to break when they’ve tended to bend often. The Saints forced two Carolina turnovers to give them back-to-back multiple takeaways, and they’re tied with the Bills for the fifth-best scoring defense in the league, allowing just an average of 16 points per contest.
Why Bet on the Green Bay Packers?
The Green Bay Packers were also involved in a tense matchup in Week 2 but were not as fortunate as the Saints. The Packers lost a 25-24 nail-biter in Atlanta to the rising Falcons, ending their bid for a 2-0 start to their season. On a positive note, their offense is still humming along nicely despite huge changes this offseason. Jordan Love remained crisp in his second start of the year, throwing for three touchdowns with no picks, albeit with just 14 completions on 25 attempts for 151 passing yards. Two of those three TDs were caught by rookie wideout Jaylen Reed, who gives Green Bay another promising young talent to build off of in the wake of Aaron Rodgers’ departure. What the Packers need to solve is their leaky offense; one that allowed a staggering 446 yards to the Falcons, with 221 of those yards coming on the ground. Green Bay also committed seven penalties and now has a whopping 16 flags called against them through two games. The Packers will be in the friendly confines of Lambeau at long last, so here’s hoping that they limit their penalties with the crowd behind them for the first time this season.
Saints vs. Packers Betting Trends

- The Saints are 3-1 in the last four meetings against Green Bay (SU/ATS).
- The totals went under in all six of the Saints’ most recent road games.
- The Packers are 5-4 at home since the start of last season (4-5 ATS).
- The Packers are 2-5 in the last seven games against NFC South teams (SU/ATS).
- The totals went over in three of Green Bay’s last four outings.
Saints vs. Packers Expert Betting Predictions
It’s Green Bay’s surprisingly potent offense versus New Orleans’ stout defense, and we’ll have to side with the home team in this matchup. Love and the Packers should be invigorated with their first home game of the new campaign and the lack of a running game for the Saints will force Derek Carr into some tough situations with a turnover of two changing the tides late in the Cheeseheads’ favor.
