Seahawks vs. 49ers 2023 NFL Wild Card Odds, Preview & Pick
The Seattle Seahawks caught two major breaks in Week 18 of the NFL regular season and it resulted in them sneaking into the NFC playoffs as the final wild-card team. Their reward is a trip to NFC West rival and red-hot San Francisco on Saturday.
The Niners are 2-0 vs. the Seahawks this season. The last meeting was Week 15 in Seattle and the final score was 21-13 to clinch the NFC West. Geno Smith threw for 238 yards and a TD but was under constant pressure.

Smith hit Noah Fant on a 10-yard TD with 3:35 remaining. Why Bet on the Seattle Seahawks?
Seattle had to beat the Rams on Sunday and hope the Lions won in Green Bay on Sunday night and both happened. The Seahawks edged the Rams 19-16 in OT. Jason Myers kicked a 32-yard field goal midway through overtime after he hit the upright from 46 yards on the final play of regulation. Myers finished with an NFL-best 143 points on the year. Myers’ game-winning field goal moved him one point ahead of Baltimore kicker Justin Tuckers for the NFL lead.
Smith finished 19 of 31 for 214 yards and rookie Kenneth Walker III rushed for 114 yards for Seattle. Walker finished the season with 1,050 yards rushing and a third straight 100-yard game. Walker became the second Seahawk, along with Curt Warner in 1983, to rush for more than 1,000 yards as a rookie. He finished No. 12 in the league in rushing, leading all rookie backs despite starting only 11 games.
Tyler Lockett caught 4-of-7 targets for 54 yards and a touchdown. The 54-yard day took Lockett past 1,000 yards for the fourth straight season. He joined Hall-of-Famer Steve Largent as just the second wideout in franchise history to accomplish that feat.
Sunday’s win capped an up-and-down regular season in which the Seahawks won four in a row to get to 6-3, then lost five of six before winning their last two to make the playoffs. This is the Seahawks’ 10th playoff berth in 13 seasons under Pete Carroll and John Schneider. Only one team has won a playoff game as a double-digit underdog in the last decade. The Titans beat the Ravens 28-12 in the 2019 Divisional Round.
Why Bet on the San Francisco 49ers?
San Francisco enters on a 10-game winning streak and earned the NFC’s No. 2 seed with Sunday’s 38-13 rout of Arizona. Purdy completed 15-of-20 passes for 178 yards and three touchdowns. Purdy remains undefeated through five starts. He also has at least two passing touchdowns in all five starts plus his relief duty game six weeks ago. Elijah Mitchell rushed five times for 55 yards and two touchdowns playing in his first game since suffering a knee injury in Week 12. McCaffrey rushed 10 times for 45 yards and had three catches for 34 yards and a touchdown.
Purdy is the third rookie quarterback ever to win each of his first five career starts, joining Ben Roethlisberger (won first 13 starts in 2004) and Mike Kruczek (first six in 1968) and is one of two rookies in NFL history (Justin Herbert) with at least two touchdown passes in six consecutive games.
Purdy will become the first rookie quarterback selected in the seventh round or later or that was undrafted to start a postseason game in the common-draft era. The last QB to win a playoff game drafted in the seventh round or later was veteran Brad Johnson in Super Bowl XXXVII vs the Raiders. The last seventh-round QB to win a playoff game was Pat Haden in 1978.
Nick Bosa had a sack Sunday and became the fourth player since 1982, when the individual sack became an official statistic, to record at least one sack in 13 games within a single season, joining DeMarcus Ware (14 games in 2008), Justin Houston (13 in 2014) and Chandler Jones (13 in 2017). Bosa is going to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
