Suns vs. Clippers NBA Playoffs Odds and Game 3 Preview – June 24th, 2021

By Carlos Chacon

The LA Clippers go down 0-2 to the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference Finals after losing game 2 at the Phoenix Suns Arena. Game 2 of the series ended dramatically with Deandre Ayton scoring an alley-oop dunk off an inbound pass from Jae Crowder with less than a second left on the clock to get the 104-103 win. The play came right after Paul George missed two free throws that would have given his team a 3-point lead. But instead, the Suns were given a chance to win the game.

Now that the third game heads back to Los Angeles, the Clippers will try to pull themselves out of this rut and try to execute another comeback from a 2-game deficit. They’ve done it twice since the start of the playoffs and are confident that they can level the series once they have the support of their home crowd.

Why Bet on the Phoenix Suns?

Although it was a bad shooting night for Devin Booker, who was 5-of-16 from the field due to Patrick Beverley’s ironclad defense, the rest of the team stepped up to give the Suns the offensive prowess it needed to win the game. Cameron Payne and Deandre Ayton took charge during the game. Payne led the scoring with 29 points to his name, adding 9 assists and 1 rebound along the way. Ayton recorded 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 1 assist. Once again, Monty Williams’ efforts allowed for a well-balanced rotation, allowing two bench players, Cameron Johnson and Dario Šarić to score double digits with 11 points each.

The Phoenix Suns dominated the paint the entire game, scoring 60 points in the shaded area. This made up for their bad shooting from beyond the arc and shows us that the team can easily adjust to different situations. If Devin Booker gets his shooting back in Game 3, he can start controlling the backcourt and add to the offensive threat of the Suns to try and take a 3-game series lead.

Why Bet on the Los Angeles Clippers?

Tyronn Lue and the rest of his team started the game in high spirits. They were able to answer back to the Suns’ offense and kept the score close to the final quarter. Patrick Beverley was able to lock down Devin Booker and forced the 24-year-old guard to go to find other options. It was only until the final minutes of the game when the Clippers started to take off.

With less than 3 minutes left on the clock, they only needed to close down a 6-point deficit and reeled themselves back in to take a 1-point lead with roughly 30 seconds remaining. Despite having the momentum, there just wasn’t enough time to create a bigger lead.

Paul George finished the night with 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists, and we look forward to his numbers improving come Game 3. Reggie Jackson provided sufficient scoring support as he finished Game 2 with 19 points to his name, while Zubac and Kennard combined for 24 points. However, if the Clippers want to close down on the Suns, the rest of the squad needs to put more effort on both ends of the court.

Suns vs. Clippers Expert Betting Prediction

This is the third time that the LA Clippers are down 0-2 in the 2021 NBA Playoffs, and many believe that they can bounce back from this situation. But as of the moment, the Suns look like the dominant team in every aspect. They are efficient offensively and defensively with a squad that can fulfill their roles very well.

However, there’s still plenty of room for improvement on the Clippers’ side. They can get fired up with the help of their home court, while the rest of the team performs the necessary adjustments to get ahead of the Suns. Covering the spread should be much easier for the team, and a win is never off the table.

There’s no doubt that the last Los Angeles team in the playoffs can cover the spread. A win remains a huge possibility as the team proved that it can snatch wins on the road in this season’s playoffs.
